Description
You were a disciple of the Divine, a servant of light on a never-ending crusade to fight evil. But fate has made a terrible turn on you. During an epic battle with a powerful necromancer, dreadful daemon named Samuel tricked you and dragged you to his dimension. There you were trapped and tortured. But like every typical daemon lord, he had a very twisted, sadistic sense of humour, so he decided to chain your soul to that of a Deathknight. Thus he cursed you to spend the rest of eternity bound to a creature you were fighting all you life. Now you must work together to escape your prison and find a way to break this curse!

Decent follow-up to Divine Divinity

If you enjoyed playing Divine Divinity, this game is very similar but they made some significant changes. Personally I feel that the game itself seemed to run better than DD and that was with me running it under Linux with WINE. The music is really good in the game, but when you go to the battlefields, it's completely randomized so it can feel off. Imagine being in a dungeon with dead bodies lying around but having peaceful village music playing. The skill system is a mixed bag with individual skills broken down to components and several worthless skills now. You have two characters AND you can spend money to reclass your skills which was something you couldn't do in DD which helps. My biggest complaint with the game would be the battlefields. They're repetitive and frankly boring. Granted, they're optional, but it's something I want to warn people about. The overall floor layout is 'random', but I found that more often than not that they were exactly the same. Something like 8 of 12 floor layouts being the same in just one act. The whole post-game is supposed to be more of this. Yuck. The game itself also ends fairly abruptly. Running it on Linux, I found out that videos weren't playing. I loaded up the video manually to get some closure, and it was just a recap of everything that had happened before so it didn't improve things any. I think I've read comments about the voice acting being corny, but I didn't dislike most of it. There were a few cheesy characters here and there, but it wasn't too bad really. With all of my criticism, I'd still say I had a pretty good time with this game. The areas outside of the battlefields are pretty nice and you want to keep exploring. It's a step back from Divine Divinity, but it's not a bad game. More of a 3.5 star game where some of the team's experiments worked and others didn't. If you like DD, chances are you'll enjoy most of this game with the notable exception of the battlefields.

Not as Good as it's Predecessor

I absolutely loved Divine Divinity and was excited to move straight on to this title when I was finished but unfortunately with the first one still fresh in my brain it was easy to see places where this one had fell short. It is by all means still a great game and a solid RPG with a great story but there's definitely a shallowness compared to the first. I do love the fact you get two characters in this one rather than one so you get a little party synergy going, but apart from that the games length, and quality drop a little. The most empty feeling feature is the addition of battlefields, long winding randomised dungeons that have simple objectives that serve only to give exp, items and fill time. You'll also be seeing a fair share of bugs along the way, much like Divine Divinity. All in all it's still a big recommendation from me though. What's there is still pretty good even if a little flawed

Wrong version of the game

The game itself is great i played it in my childhood and wanted to play it again on GoG. When i started my playtrough, i noticed few things with this version of the game, that are really frustrating. First of all it really lags on 1080p when you highlight many items, and second of all every note/manuscript/book have replaced their original text with picture of some kind of creature, there are few places where you will get hints from those notes or manuscripts to progress further but with this particular bug you can get stuck, to progress further, so i would recomend look for diffrent version of this game or someone out here need to patch it, becouse right now its not playable for me.

Very disappointing

The title says it all...Beyond Divinity was a very disappointing game. It had none of the charm, interesting game world or even refined game play of the first game. I highly recommend Divine Divinity. I highly recommend staying away from Beyond Divinity.

Alright, enjoyed Divine Divinity more

My bias is that I enjoy playing old isometric games. The story is fun with it's own charm. Much of the same mechanics from the previous game are in this one too. I would only recommend playing this one if you really enjoyed Divine Divinity and want to see the continuation of the story.
