I didn't expect this

I'm not a fan of most point and click games. Especially old ones. I like the Sam and Max games (the new episodic ones) and that's about it. However Beneath a Steel Sky is different from all of the other ones. The puzzles are difficult, but not too the point that it's impossible to complete without cheating. The story is interesting, though a tad bit short. The voice acting is decent, though at times it is different from the written text. Truly, I wasn't expecting something this good. I assumed that a point and click game that is free would be horrid. There is no excuse for anyone not to play this game, especially since it's a small download and free.

A Classic Adventure

If you've ever seen the film Blade Runner or even Mad Max, then you will be at home in this adventure game from the mid-nineties. Set in a post-apocalyptic Australia, the game follows the story of a young man trying to figure why he's been abducted and brought from his home in the wastes to the bizarre and very bureaucratic Union City. Beneath a Steel Sky is a point-and-click adventure game in a similar vein to Space Quest IV or Sam & Max: Hit the Road among many others typical of the era. You interact with various objects in the game world in an attempt to solve various puzzles to continue the story forward. While not a very long game, it is an enjoyable ride none-the-less. The graphics and sound are not perfect (at least anymore) but are more than adequate and very evocative of the setting. The game plays very well and there were only a few instances where I couldn't quite figure out what to do next, but that is quite common in adventure games. If you enjoy adventure games from days past then you should enjoy this interesting tale of humanity. The price is right so why not give it a shot?

A serious adventure

Well, I primary remember this game from the days when the Amiga CD32 was the "Hot spot". Not as fun as the Monkey Island series and the Simon the Sorcerer Series, but a more challeing adventure. You really get Roberts Iron-world under your skin.
