BATTLETECH

It's great strategy and tactical game, with lots of options for customizing your mechs, a good feeling of progression, lots of freedom to select your missions, and the campaign is well-written and interesting. It does trigger the same vibes as the Shadowrun games, not surprising since it's the same company, but with an increased focus on tactics and on long-term management of your mech pool. I backed that game on KS initially mostly due to loyalty to Harebrained Schemes since I liked their Shadowrun games, not sure what I was expecting, and I was very positively surprised of the final products. Only real drawback is somewhat long loading times, but that's very frequent in games nowadays, and it definitely doesn't take the fun out of the game.

I remember growing up playing the tabletop game and this version really does a great job at recreating the experience and fun I had from long ago. I do realize there are some balancing issues and certain defense missions that need to be tweaked, but overall, what a great start. I've put in over 200 hours and I still can't get enough play time in. Tomorrow, I look forward to firing up this game again above all other games. The updates are fairly frequent and the devs seem responsive. Plus, the ability to mod the game makes it very interesting and keeps it fresh as well. Again, great job!

A solid adaptation of the Battletech boardgame. I'm really enjoying the setting and artwork, strategies, mech and base building, custom NPC recruitment, stomping on things, and of course, using a particle projection cannon to blow a gaping hole through the chest of my startled opponents. However, my unmodded game has suffered crashes every few hours and an annoying bug where the NPCs voices just stopped working.

Once you really understand how combat works, you will have a lot of fun with it. But it the campaign is definitely too short and the random mercernary missions are not interesting or varied enough to keep doing them instead. Loved my jumping heavy mechs hiding in the woods and obliterating much stronger enemies.

I will rate each game 1 star, when confronted with a GOG pop up request to rate, after quitting the game.
