Boring, repetitive, no narrative
Where's the story? What's my motivation? Why do we have caricatures instead of good characters? Wanted a turn based game and I guess I got that.. and that's all, and it's not fun. Feels like a crappy console port, for example: If you move your mouse around and hit a key on your keyboard, the keyboard input will not be registered until your mouse stops moving for a few seconds. Little weird things like that, and all the pop-in delays that imo are console things. Maybe you don't think a few pop-in delays matter but after 1000 of them it just makes you feel like you're in mud when you do anything. How is it that developers don't notice or correct this? This was never an issue and now it seems prevalent in every 'modern' game. Constantly throwing you in the deep end. Next quest: Go here, do some random stuff for some uninteresting reason. Oh, okay I'll go do that. Get there, and the monsters are 2+ levels higher than you, which in this game means you're going to die.. Which means you have to go take meaningless random fights, which is A LOT of them, to gain a couple levels, so you can complete the quests.. Uh, no f'ing thanks. After this happening for the 4th time I'm just done with it. First time I've had a map that doesn't show you where you are on it.. brilliant. Enter some foreign game, in some foreign land, open map and it's just some big map and it doesn't say where you are.. Why even have a map? I'm starting to remember why I used to pirate games, I don't think devs that are this thoughtless deserve a penny. OST and sound design sucks. Characters are cookie cutter and predictable, same with voice work. Only interesting character I came across was Welt, some gopher looking miner bro.. Had about 15 seconds on screen and more interesting than the 9 hours I played prior to him. Google: "Battle Chasers boring"
