It's not hard, it's random
Normally I like these kinds of games, but this one is too much for me. This is a game for masochists. The devellopers say, that it's a hard game - but that's not true. It is unfair, frustrating and random. Other buyers say, that it is a good tactical game - again it is not. Battlemaps are randomly generated each reload, so a battle in which you previoulsy had a good tactical position looks the opposite on a reloaded, after a lucky blow by a random brigand just killed your best front line fighter. Weather is random, too. All your planning, all your decisions don't matter, because most weapons can kill even the hardiest of your fighters in one round - and they will. I have played on easy, btw. Don't buy it. Try Low Magic Age instead. Worse graphics, but by far not so frustrating for casual players.

Nice concept. Bad game
Tactical RPG. Good concept. Bad game. It's missing some basic features that were common in tactical RPGs for a couple decades. For example, no deployment phase in battles. A lot of encounters especially encounters added by DLC are incredibly unbalanced and have no counter other than getting lucky via RNG. Slow gameplay in battle. There is only one option in the settings to speed up the gameplay and it really doesn't help much especially given how many large battles there are. It just turns a lot of battle into a drag. That coupled with the existence of RNG means battles are way longer than they should be. Power creep in DLC. Recruitment is terrible because most of the time you get terrible recruits who will never be good which isn't too much of a problem in the first few days in game. But it's a terrible thing when you get into the later game because you can spend a lot of money on a piece of garbage just because you aren't given enough information in recruitment. At most you can pay 1/10th of a characters cost to find out they're a midget or they're fat. Something that shouldn't cost anything at all. Upkeep costs for mercs is really expensive when the jobs, even after negotiation, and loot don't really pay enough most of the time.
