Ignore illegitimate reviews

It should be easy to tell which are motivated by online temper tantrums. It's great to have this back! I've been looking for a decent straight up D&D style crpg and after the disappointing Sword Coast Legends, this is great. I haven't finished it yet but the plot does a good job of filling in the rather extreme gap between BG1 & BG2. And it's rad to have a lot of the original voice actors back. I find some of the maps to be a bit cluttered with NPCs, especially in the beginning, and the character outlines were a bit distracting at first but I grew to like them. I haven't experienced any outrageous bugs yet but I've heard that some are out there.

A great Baldur's Gate 1.5

I'm more or less 20 hours in it, and i can say that the game doesnt deserve the hate some of the others reviewers who are afraid of a transgender characters have said. (Welcome to 2016). This is a really nice take on new content for Baldur's Gate. And it is worth of the legacy. I'm playing this series since the first came out. This is the series who have made me a fan of Dungeons and Dragons, and RPG. So to play again a new adventure in this "setting" was excitting. The new characters are great. The new story is cool, and the interactions between those new folks is very good, funny, dynamic, well written/acted. Its a must buy for any fans of the Baldur's Gate legacy. (only non-homophobic fans of course)

Don't downvote on your bigotry.

It's pretty disturbing to see the number of people who decide that a game with lightning bolts, ogres, and magical swords has to draw a line on what elements can be included. Are you upset that minorities exist in the world? Are you upset that other people get to enjoy the same things that you once enjoyed? It's little different from segregationists, decades past, being outraged that black people were showing up in their movies, in their sports leagues, in their neighborhoods. Rate a game based on the gameplay, not on your own bigotry. I've bought this, played it, and loved it. It's more Baldur's Gate. I love more Baldur's Gate. I'm not threatened by other people playing Baldur's Gate, too.

10-year-olds

All these intellectually bankrupt troglodytes leaping on here to pee their pants about the most minor aspect of a minor character remind me of my son. He's 10, by the way, and a great kid. But he's too immature to understand that he's constantly acting his age. He want's to be perceived as a grown up but constantly acts like the 10-year-old he is. It's all just fine for him because he's going through the maturing process and shouldn't be expected to be an adult. These gg'ers get their pitchfork mob out and act like spoiled, entitled children and then wonder why the media and general public doesn't give them respect, unaware that they are getting all the respect they deserve. Much in the same way as my son doesn't understand why I don't think it's funny when an astronomer talks about Uranus like his 4th grade friends and he do, people see what gg'ers are doing and the neanderthal views they represent and show the appropriate reaction. I'm pretty excited to play this game eventually (quite the backlog right now) as all the legitimate reviews seem to converge on the idea that they got it right for the most part, if you're a fan of the genre and series. And I'm sure my son will either watch me or play himself when that time comes!

Fun Game, interesting story

I loved playing this game. I'm happy they brought back the original voice actors although I'm a little sad they couldn't find the actress who voiced Jaheira. It felt like the old Baldur's Gate that I played in the late 90's and early 2000's. I enjoyed the new music especially the track "Assault on Dragonspear", that one is especially awesome. The new backgrounds were rendered well, I'm sure the concept artists had fun creating them and I liked the new lighting effects. As far as the story is concerned, I enjoyed it although it is not as free as Baldur's Gate one or two where you could stray away from the main quest to explore other areas. It felt much more like Throne of Bhaal where the party was on a one-way confrontation with Melissan and there was not very many areas to explore that did not have to do with the main quest. It is my main criticism with the story for both Throne of Bhaal and Siege of Dragonspear although I still enjoyed them both immensely. The gameplay is just as fun as the original game and it looks like the AI for the characters has changed. Dynaheir and Jaheira would cast defensive and offensive spells without being told too. I think this is part of the default script they follow - I decided to leave it on as I progressed through the game. It was fun to see Dynaheir blast foes with magic missile without me clicking on her. I loved the new dialogue from Minsc, Dynaheir, Imoen and the Hooded Man (you know who). Minsc's new lines are hilarious and the Hooded Man's lines were great. I did not add Viconia to the group since I wanted to used Jaheira (despite the fact they kept her silent). On my second play through I will add Viconia since I'm curious of the new things she will say. As far as bugs are concerned, I did not encounter many except for one after meeting Khalid that made the game crash. Overall I found the game to be an enjoyable experience especially if you enjoy old-school rpgs. A good bargain for a twenty dollar game
