Gather your party, and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power.
Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a Mind Flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil.
From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 comes a next-generation RPG, set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.
Choose from a wide selection of D&D races and classes, or play as an origin character with a hand-crafted background. Adventure, loot, battle and romance as you journey through the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Play alone, and select your companions carefully, or as a party of up to four in multiplayer.
Abducted, infected, lost. You are turning into a monster, but as the corruption inside you grows, so does your power. That power may help you to survive, but there will be a price to pay, and more than any ability, the bonds of trust that you build within your party could be your greatest strength. Caught in a conflict between devils, deities, and sinister otherworldly forces, you will determine the fate of the Forgotten Realms together.
Forged with the new Divinity 4.0 engine, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a world that reacts to your choices. A grand, cinematic narrative brings you closer to your characters than ever before, as you venture through our biggest world yet.
The Forgotten Realms are a vast, detailed and diverse world, and there are secrets to be discovered all around you -- verticality is a vital part of exploration. Sneak, dip, shove, climb, and jump as you journey from the depths of the Underdark to the glittering rooftops of the Upper City. How you survive, and the mark you leave on the world, is up to you.
allows you to combine your forces in combat, and split your party to follow your own quests and agendas. Concoct the perfect plan together… or introduce an element of chaos when your friends least expect it.
offer a hand-crafted experience, each with their own unique traits, agenda, and outlook on the world. Their stories intersect with the entire narrative, and your choices will determine whether those stories end in redemption, salvation, domination, or many other outcomes.
based on the D&D 5e ruleset. Team-based initiative, advantage & disadvantage, and roll modifiers join combat cameras, expanded environmental interactions, and a new fluidity in combat that rewards strategy and foresight.
through your choices, and the roll of the dice. No matter who you play, or what you roll, the world and its inhabitants will react to your story.
allows you to pause the world around you at any time even outside of combat. Whether you see an opportunity for a tactical advantage before combat begins, want to pull off a heist with pin-point precision, or need to escape a fiendish trap. Split your party, prepare ambushes, sneak in the darkness -- create your own luck!
So far it's not like the other 2 BG (Balders Gate) games.
I like that there are a few more races you can pick from, I love that you can dream (I'd say a lover later on?) of the same/opposite sex who can be any race you can pick for the main person. I enjoy the dice rolling and that it''s not a popup all the time (have 3 checks what just showed it rolled but not the number).
I'd like to (and will check later) to remap the camera controlls (become a little anoying that I hit E and a stat screen opened up). I haven't played it long but I like what I have seen so far.
For people saying about the price: Yes it's one off and Yes if you don't like the cost DON'T BUY IT. The world will keep turning and life will go on. As for the bugs: It crashed once on me and I had some lag in a cutscene but it's Early Access (not the ready game. Things can be fix before release).
Even though I'd never use them I am looking forward to the premade origans becoming available (I like to make my own story).
So I went with three E's because I'm pretty much ecstatic over this game. I played all the old Baldur's Gates as well as Icewindale 2 and Neverwinter Nights. I never played Divinity, but I've played games similar to it.
BG3, though, is so worth picking up! I know it's only Early Access, but it still has so much to offer. The way the characters speak to one another, to how the game mechanics do rolls and checks--I just love how immersive it is. I feel actual regret when I do something bad in game, or the anticipation of maybe stepping on a trap has me on the edge of my seat.
I've played about 5 hours (2 of those with friends online with Steam players (yes, you can cross play with Steam and GOG)) and it was fantastic. We had very little problems connecting and I we didn't get any lag! Maybe we were just lucky, but I found it seamless.
There are totally a lot of bugs. Sometimes bodies will fly through the air and get stretched across the entire screen. Sometimes in combat your turn might get skipped if you're not careful. Sure, if you double click on your level up there's a chance you'll be saddled with the defaults instead of getting to choose because of the lag. These things I can look past because the game is of high quality in other places, specifically in story telling.
All in all, I'm super impressed and was NOT planning on buying this game until it came out, but I'm so glad I got it early because it's totally worth digging into.
For those who like DAO series then BG2 is for you. Appears to me that Larian slapped a BG facelift on DOA2 and hoped to make a bundle off the BG hype.
I played through BG 1/2 and NWN more than once now, and will probably now make another run through the series.
I tried Dragon Age: Origins and I can't make it past the initial startup adventures before boredom sets in. DAO series is just not my type of game.
Reviews here have saved me spending $60 for a game that isn't what I anticipated.
This game is riddled with so many bugs and the Devs have such a lack of vision that you are forced into rediculious choices that you're not trying to make or even thought about - even when there are clearer and obvious solutions to the problems presented.
This game is full of broken quests and broken promises. If I had known it was going to be this frustrating to play, I would not have bought it, at least not for another year or two after this thing stops being a mess and starts being a game.
I've played this game for a long time now both in single player and in co-op and if I thought I could still return it, I would.
For me, this game is the Cyberpunk 2077 that I heard people complaining about on release when I had no problems with the game and I was wondering why people were mad.
I was skeptical, but I'm honestly enjoying the game so far. I like it a lot more than Divinity: Original Sin 2, personally. My favorite parts are definitely the dialogue and cut-scenes. The game has at least a few references/ callbacks to Descent into Avernus, as well as at least one to Out of the Abyss
