Gather your party, and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power.
Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a Mind Flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil.
From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 comes a next-generation RPG, set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.
Choose from a wide selection of D&D races and classes, or play as an origin character with a hand-crafted background. Adventure, loot, battle and romance as you journey through the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Play alone, and select your companions carefully, or as a party of up to four in multiplayer.
Abducted, infected, lost. You are turning into a monster, but as the corruption inside you grows, so does your power. That power may help you to survive, but there will be a price to pay, and more than any ability, the bonds of trust that you build within your party could be your greatest strength. Caught in a conflict between devils, deities, and sinister otherworldly forces, you will determine the fate of the Forgotten Realms together.
Forged with the new Divinity 4.0 engine, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a world that reacts to your choices. A grand, cinematic narrative brings you closer to your characters than ever before, as you venture through our biggest world yet.
The Forgotten Realms are a vast, detailed and diverse world, and there are secrets to be discovered all around you -- verticality is a vital part of exploration. Sneak, dip, shove, climb, and jump as you journey from the depths of the Underdark to the glittering rooftops of the Upper City. How you survive, and the mark you leave on the world, is up to you.
allows you to combine your forces in combat, and split your party to follow your own quests and agendas. Concoct the perfect plan together… or introduce an element of chaos when your friends least expect it.
offer a hand-crafted experience, each with their own unique traits, agenda, and outlook on the world. Their stories intersect with the entire narrative, and your choices will determine whether those stories end in redemption, salvation, domination, or many other outcomes.
based on the D&D 5e ruleset. Team-based initiative, advantage & disadvantage, and roll modifiers join combat cameras, expanded environmental interactions, and a new fluidity in combat that rewards strategy and foresight.
through your choices, and the roll of the dice. No matter who you play, or what you roll, the world and its inhabitants will react to your story.
allows you to pause the world around you at any time even outside of combat. Whether you see an opportunity for a tactical advantage before combat begins, want to pull off a heist with pin-point precision, or need to escape a fiendish trap. Split your party, prepare ambushes, sneak in the darkness -- create your own luck!
Everyone should play this, incredibly immersive experience that by the time you notice you'll have sunk dozens of hours into. Gorgeous graphics, meticulously crafted setting, and a top tier story, what else could you ask for??
All that for 60 dollars and no microtransactions of any kind. Thank you Larian Studios, will never regret supporting this game and after this I plan to try your other games, keep up the good work!
I have been gaming a long time. Over 40 years in fact. This game is already in my top 3 of all time. The story, the game world and sheer replayability mean I'll be playing this one for a long time yet. Larian have knocked this one out past the parking lot into the river beyond!
I played BG and BG2 back when they were new (I still have the four disc Baldur's Gate set in the tri-fold cardboard/plastic on a shelf by my desk). Somehow they made this game feel like a mashup of the old Baldur's Gate and Dragon's Age Origin. Other than the lack of voice acting for the PC, I have absolutely no complaints about anything so far (admittedly I'm only ~15 hours in). This game has sucked me in.
And for anyone worried about the 'launcher', there's nothing stopping you from going into the bin folder and clicking the bg3.exe or bg3_dx11.exe files to bypass the launcher and start the game directly. Right click, create shortcut on desktop, no launcher required.
Balancing is terrible, always is in D&D adaptations but this is really bad. Combat is insanely slow-paced, this is how turn-based combat worked in the late 80s / early 90s. Add in the dice-rolling animations and it's a snorefest. Not much variation to character appearance and many races didn't translate properly, nor have they in any game since TSR sold out. No alignment system. Controls are over-inflated making the game feel very tedious right out the gate. First impressions instantly made me feel like the game was designed around the assumption you've played Larian's other games before. The switch between characters talking and "The Narrator" is annoying. Z-axis climbing and jumping over terrain in a top-down game is super lame, no fog of war (effectively you can see everything as if there are no walls between rooms). No edittable .ini or .cfg files for quick modification of features or removal or annoyances. Absolutely hate the soundtrack. Also, there is a Larian Launcher program you have to waste time bypassing.
I've played 15 hours so far.
My impressions so far and suggestions:
- It's a good game. don't get me wrong but something is missing/off.
- I like the turn based combat so far but it needs more polishment.
- I think the writing can be improved (espacially for companions). Maybe the companions can appear later or in another circumstances, because right now there
clapped together(you meet them all quite early on but that's my impression)
- Maybe tone down the color(because it gets to shiny sometines)
- Miss chance should be tweaked because right now it is a bit annoying
- The UI needs a rework too(something more in line with BG1 or 2)
I will continue playing and finishing the First Act. There lies a great potential here but I think it needs heavy reworks in some aspects to become really a Baldurs Gate game.
