Beamdog, master of cashgrab

Seriously? 2bucks is nothing, but 6 portraits for a game where you have one main and other NPCs have their own portraits is more than nothing. It's already annoying that you have to buy all the versions in all platforms (with added content in PC versions separately purchased in mobile on top of that), and now they are charging for 6 portraits? Beamdog is proving to be a real joke.

Degradation, degeneration, devolution...

Ruining a classic, iconic series, to "fix" it, as per the twisted, diseased vision of a mind-sick, disturbed, self-proclaimed artist ("writer"); is one thing... But selling random, talent-less at that, paraphernalia, in order to make a profit right after killing it, though, is a newfound league, all on its own! Rabid, wild dog, ripping that once great franchise's still bleeding corpse to shreds and devouring it with greed. Where's the Beamdog-catcher, when you need one?

You can get portraits for free

Go on Google and you can get a lot of free portraits. In your "My Documents" folder, you should find a "Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition" Folder. Inside that, create another folder called "Portraits". This is where your custom portrait files will be stored. Steamdeck: Your portraits folder is located at "~/.local/share/Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition/portraits/" Each custom portrait must be a 24-bit Windows BMP file, and file names must not exceed eight characters. If the filename is too long, the portrait does not appear in the game. Stock portraits are 210x330px, but the game will accept custom portraits up to 1024px. Custom portraits should be cropped to a 7:11 pixel ratio (roughly 0.64:1). At this ratio, the largest acceptable custom portrait is 652x1024px. Custom portraits are added to the end of the portaits list. They are accessible by selecting to the left.

joke

This is a joke. 6 portraits for whatever price is just a terrible idea. Something like this should be free DLC for good customers who already paid the price for the game as a "promotional thank you". Milking additional cash for something so stupid is simply embarassing. Especially if you consider that people who buy Baldur's gate nowadays are mostly people who should not have any problem with downloading and customizing tons of portraits very easily...

A classic example of a bad DLC

Do you remember Horse Armour on Oblivion? This valuable contribution should have been part of another epic adventure, not a money-grabbing add-on. I don't mean to diminish the quality of the portraits -- which I'm sure are great -- just their business model.
