Great Versions
Seriously the hate for the EEs is unjustified. Beamdog fixed so many issues that used to have to be modded for hours to fix.

Great improvment, only one drawback
Enchanced edition is great, only adding to base game experience with imprved UI (especially love Total Roll counter!). Although I needed to remove one star for lack of polish localisation, done in past by none other then CD Projekt Red. It feels incomplete without Piotr Fronczewski saying "Przed wyruszeniem w drogę należy zebrać drużynę" ...

great but i use the original version
i use the original version of BG 2 because the EE edition gave me a bug where all my journal entries would disappear. there is no fix for it and the bug has been known for years now. they dont care to fix it. its very easy to apply the widescreen fix and everything else anyway. EE doesnt look any better than the original. although the portraits are larger and i had to install a font size fix for BG2 complete. its not a lot of work though. seems to me like EE doesnt do anything that easy to use communty fixes arent already doing. i would however recommend trying EE if you dont care for modding your game. it saves the (minor) hassle. if you run into bugs you can always switch to the original that comes with the game. EE is far from perfect but if it works for you im glad! I love Baldurs Gate 2 writing, the old school DnD system and graphically it holds up very well. 2D art can be timeless and BG proofs this. If you like classic crpgs like neverwinter nights or kotor or even new iterations like pillars of eternity give this one a try. im sure you will not be disappointed.

Its still crap.
They may have fixed the older bugs and issues, but the pathing is a disaster, the party will constantly do what they want versus what you tell them to do, and the battles are ridiculous. If you don't build your char right there is no way to finish the game, even on easy. This is a giant time sink and it sucks.
