Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition

I have bought the game out of sentiment. Game play is great as in BG. Guys added new quests - my only complain here would be that, for example, Hexxat's quests requires her joining a team - when you do the quest without her (as I did) it does not count as finished. When you already have 6 people in the team it is an issue. Another thing that I would say is a drawback (altough aesthetic one) is the added black contour around the team, NPC and the townfolk - in my opinion the old counour-less characters looked much better. Other than that it is great to see the game again - the feature to create your own team is awesome, I have not seen any crashes or bugs so far (I am about to leave Amn and did most of the quests on the map (apart from Watchers Keep).

Some potential buyers may be put off by some of the low reviews and discussion of bugs. Most of the bugs have been fixed, multiplayer works fine, and the game is just as fun as you remember. This GOG version includes the original as well, so if you are a purist you can just ignore the EE and play the regular one. I'll admit the new content from EE does seem at least slightly different than the content in the base games, but not such that it detracts from the game. I've been using the Big World mod kit with BG1EE, SoD, and BG2EE for the full trilogy experience. I haven't tried SoD yet and am a little apprehensive about some of the reviews, but even if it is awful, the fact that I can make a level 1 character in Baldur's Gate and get merked by a single wolf, and then seamlessly play that character all the way to demigod power levels in ToB is a huge selling point for me. This is currently on sale for $6.66, and at that price this is an excellent deal. At $19.99, I'd probably wait for it to go on sale, but I'm also a poor college student >.> Also, some people's reviews complain about broken mod compatibility. As of March 2017, most mods work with the enhanced editions. I am playing with the BG1 NPC mod pack for the first time and am absolutely loving all the added banters! I've encountered a few minor hiccups, such as one of Imoen's banters playing several times in a row, but I think that was because the particular banter creates an item and her inventory was full the first several times it happened. Regardless, these minor issues are hardly noteworthy in what is one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences of my life. Strongly recommend.

GOG did a fantastic job providing all the needed patches to provide a smooth playing experience. This is the best place to get this game. Download was easy. Set-up was easy. You can ignore the old posts about untreated bugs. Game itself Good: new interface, enhancements. They made some very good improvements to the game Okay: new characters and their adventures. Bad: developers took away the "pause and keep your stuff" option at the beginning of the game. they really want you to use a new character with each new game. i liked being able to custom with things I earned from a prior playthrough. they encourage shadowkeeper, but it is not the same.

Kinda lame. The combat system is dumb. I thought this was supposed to be turn based?
