Description
The world is covered in strange ink, an unknown plague has gathered its cruel harvest. The city seems to be completely empty and dead, but in its every corner there are manifestations of fear, sorrow, frustration, misunderstanding, loneliness and suffering. The situation looks hopelessly, but not everything is lost yet...

Enter the feverish dream and experience its abstract world. Recognize the degradation of your environment and adapt to it. Act with caution. There is a malicious virus waiting for you at each step. Avoid the ink and everything should be alright.

Keep an open mind and be prepared for anything. Expect an enemy in the person who you would least expect it. If you feel betrayed, remember that a fever can change a strong, healthy person into a complete wreck. An infected mind loses common sense..

Attempt to save at least one person. Remember, sometimes 100% effort is still not enough. Don't let the fever infect your mind. Don't let the ink to change you...

Should have been a lot better

This game has great atmosphere and a cool story with a meta, 4th wall breaking theme, which is done often but rarely in an intelligent and interesting way as it is here. In those elements, Bad Dream: Fever is decidely superior to Bad Cream: Coma. But, man, the gameplay is bad. It's such a shame, because with less incredibly frustrating gameplay it would be 4 or 5 stars probably. As it is, I can't recommend it. The gameplay is basically this, over and over. There are a handful of locations and a number of separate areas within each of these locations. They're all filled with random items all over the place. You can't interact with any of this stuff until you reach a point in the game where you need a specific item, usually only having a vague idea what item will actually be usable in the sometimes moon-logicky solutions to the puzles. Then one random piece of this junk scattered somewhere randomly in the dozens of separate screens becomes clickable and needs to be picked up to advance the game. Over and over, you're told you now need to find, say for example, replacement keypad keys for a security panel. You have no clue where you might find something like that. So you just start going back through all the locations scanning the screen with your mouse pointer like the worst kind of old school adventure game pixel hunting to find some random objects somewhere that you couldn't interact with before but now you can. It's so aggravating. And sometimes, you don't even need a specific object; you just need to wander around through prior locations until some story beat triggers. It gets so aggravating, that about halfway thru I just kept a walkthrough open all the time while playing, and instead of wandering around scanning every prior locaiton top to bottom just started consulting it pretty much immediately each time I was told I needed to find some random item in some random locaion that previously couldn't be clicked on but now can.

Wow this was really trippy!!

I really enjoyed this game! Sometimes it held my hands a little too tightly and literally gave me the information I needed instead of letting me find it but I really loved the self-awareness and 4th wall breaking! As it often happens with games that make you think outside the box, I did lose the plot a couple of times and didn't have any idea how to proceed (and naturally only found one single deeply confusing guide online) but overall it was a great, unique experience!

A different but interesting direction.

I played this right after finishing Bad Dream: Coma. They were my first games in the series, so I didn't go in to either of them expecting anything specific. There are a few major differences from Coma. You have an inventory but it's mostly unobtrusive and you interact with it less. After a certain point you can also move freely from one locale to another. This gives the game a much more "open" feel to it. Consequently there's backtracking, but it never got to the point of annoyance for me. The puzzles are generally much more intuitive than in Coma, though there are still some "Huh..." moments when you finally figure something out. One of the biggest differences is the apparent lack of branching paths. I can see why this might be a disappointment to players who enjoyed that aspect of Coma, but it's clear that the developer wanted to tell a specific story from start to finish. So I can't really fault them for going that route as an artistic decision. As a result of this, it's a longer game but it probably has less replay value. But even then I think I clocked in about the same amount of time for each of the two, though I spent much less time being "stuck" in this game, and I'm including multiple replays of Coma in that time vs one playthrough for Fever, so there's probably more actual gameplay here. But ultimately it's apples and oranges (and both are good). Graphically, it's the more polished of the two games but a little less ugly/dark. The music is again fairly minimalistic, but what's there is good. Story-wise, this game is maybe even more "meta" than the first and the stories are tied together in a strange and unique way. All in all it's a worthy follow-up. Just don't go in expecting a rehash of Coma. Personally, I'm glad that it isn't, and I'm curious now to see where the developer might take it from here.

Bravo to your team

OMG outstanding magnificent game. I’ve been playing games for over 28 years and have NEVER come across a game like this. It keeps you on your toes and makes you think outside the box, game, and your own imagination. Bravo!
