Description
Assassin’s Creed® is a game that redefined the action-adventure genre. With photo-realistic graphics, an advanced physics model, and a nearly fanatical attention to detail, this title was able to begin a new chapter in gaming history. However, the excellent technical aspects are only half of the reason why it became so popular; the other half is the story.

While you technically play the game as Desmond Miles, the main focus of the game takes place elsewhere. The year is 1191: Jerusalem, the middle of the Third Crusade. You are a member of a mysterious order of assassins where you have trained your whole life to do one thing and one thing only – to kill. The recently growing influence of the Order of the Knights Templar disturbs the delicate balance of power in the region and therefore directly threatens The Brotherhood. The clash of the two most powerful organizations in Jerusalem at the time has the most unexpected consequences and triggers devastating events that threaten the world itself, and you – Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad – are in the middle of all this.
  • Well-constructed story that will pleasantly surprise you many times along the way.
  • Impressive level of interaction with the environment – crowds react to what you do and act accordingly.
  • Open world gameplay lets you to decide how and when to achieve objectives, where to go, and gives you nearly complete freedom to get there.

A Humble Beginning...

i've read too many bad reviews about this game... "it's too repetitive!" "it's boring",ecc... the truth is... it's not all true... yeah, maybe the missions are "go to point b and try to kill this guy" but, hey, the storyline is very good. templars, conspiracies, ecc... with a very interesting plot-twist. but, imho, the thing that really steal the scene is desmond when he discover that he can use... i'll stop here or i'll spoil too much ;) as i said, very good story but is little repetitive.

A Highly Underrated Game

The critical reviews I've seen on here and elsewhere make me very sad, because this game doesn't deserve it at all. Ubisoft's focus on creating the atmosphere, not the game itself, sets Assassin's Creed apart from other games, as developing the reality of the experience and atmosphere took priority over the gamers' enjoyment. Strangely enough, because they forgot to think much about whether the game is enjoyable, they made it extremely fun. This, of all games, is among the easiest to completely forget reality, or even the fact that you're playing a game, as the atmosphere is so engrossing and beautiful. Yes, there is repetition, but it was executed perfectly as to promote the reality of an assassin's life, without losing the player's interest. Imagine yourself being in the holy lands during the third crusade as a tourist, spy, warrior, assassin, rock climber, and parkourist all at once, while enjoying a highly riveting plot and an astoundingly beautiful atmosphere, coupled with perfectly executed music. That, is the essence of Assassin's creed.

A forgotten piece of art

It was wronged by many. It is one of the best, with the most fabulous plot, the real beginning of everything. The only dull thing are those repetitive side missions, but this game is worth it for the main story. It has amazing graphics and using reshade makes wonders.

Safety and Peace

I'm not gonna pretend this is perfect, but it's the beginning of a great franchise. There are plenty of things to dislike about AC1, but when it comes down to it, this is Assassin's Creed in its purest form. The origin of the Creed, the the series' roots as historical sci-fi, not as a Witcher knock-off. This is, as far as I'm concerned, the only correct way to begin the series.

Good but Flawed

Don't go in expecting to see an ending, they're on game 3 and there's still no end anywhere remotely in sight. Prepare for cliffhangers and let it dangle. It's a fun game that combines sandbox parkour, sword combat and stealth in a nice package. However it should be noted that while the controls are good, sometimes it likes to spaz out. The missions are known to be highly repetitive, but the Directors Cut adds several new mission types that will shake things up and keep it fresh. The game is also notorious for psychic guards that know you are an assassin because your horse is running. It is also notable that the parry move is overpowered in combat. These things in mind, the stealth and parkour is generally done very well, and the portion of the story that does feature is excellent. Both Altaïr and his alter ego Desmond are well characterized and go through a good deal of development. Just remember, the shaitan is everywhere, watching... waiting! Tempting us always!
