Description
Assassin’s Creed® is a game that redefined the action-adventure genre. With photo-realistic graphics, an advanced physics model, and a nearly fanatical attention to detail, this title was able to begin a new chapter in gaming history. However, the excellent technical aspects are only half of the reason why it became so popular; the other half is the story.

While you technically play the game as Desmond Miles, the main focus of the game takes place elsewhere. The year is 1191: Jerusalem, the middle of the Third Crusade. You are a member of a mysterious order of assassins where you have trained your whole life to do one thing and one thing only – to kill. The recently growing influence of the Order of the Knights Templar disturbs the delicate balance of power in the region and therefore directly threatens The Brotherhood. The clash of the two most powerful organizations in Jerusalem at the time has the most unexpected consequences and triggers devastating events that threaten the world itself, and you – Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad – are in the middle of all this.
  • Well-constructed story that will pleasantly surprise you many times along the way.
  • Impressive level of interaction with the environment – crowds react to what you do and act accordingly.
  • Open world gameplay lets you to decide how and when to achieve objectives, where to go, and gives you nearly complete freedom to get there.

Such a painful experience

Game has its pluses, but they are nothing compared to everying else here. AC 1 is clunky, VERY repetative and has a horrible autosave system. Yet I will try to finish it, so there will be no reason for me to launch it again. PS: by the way, you have to play the game with your internet off (otherwise it will freeze constantly).

Too repetitive

By itself this game is poor. I cannot recommend it as it is too repetitive, but if a low price presents itself the story is a decent setup for the far better sequels.

Overrated game of the year.

Two stars: one for graphics and number two for mechanics (moving and fighting). Unfortunatly that is all! The game is unbelievably boring. The text and dialogs are made all the same and repetitive. After a couple of hours of gameplay you want to uninstall it and never play it again. I have the feeling that Ubisoft forgot to make a game, instead they made a map where you have to run on a horse around 10 mins from one city to another, climb the tower to find side quests, free the citizens from bullies soldiers, steel the letter from a man, punch the Informant and finally kill the boss. All of that you have to do again and again 9 times, it is very exhausting. The game gives a player a feeling of wasted time. I dont think that someone can make it till the end. The game is definitly overrated on IGN, GAMESPOT, GAMESRATE etc. NOT WORTH BUYING EVEN UNDER A DISCOUNT

If you want a look at my review.

2 premises. 1. I tried to install it on Windows 8.1, do not start. 2. Having mac I decided to install it via playonmac, I wrote the procedure I used on the forum portingteam. The game itself is very slow to start. It is divided into 9 "layers" called memories. For the first 3 levels you feel like you always do the same things. It is very repetitive but it has a merit you learn really well all the commands that are used in the game (very complex, so much so that at first the game constantly reminds them to you). From 4th level you start to get serious, the game has a surge of difficulty and becomes much less repetitive. The graphics, although dated, is truly spectacular. Jerusalem seems to be true. The idea of the horses to get around is implemented very well. Both movements that the fights are very complex. This is due to the two modes that can be used. But to jump from the roofs is a really amazing feeling. The fights are very various. In general, the difficulty is not very high, the game presents problems of repeatability. But the ideas implemented are clearly focused on the future. The story is very original, even if the ending is very open. I've played with the keyboard, I can say that in the beginning there are too many commands, thanks to the 3 initial levels you can play without too much trouble. We see that somehow born as game consoles, and certainly is not for the old style players (the fights are too much action, little reflection), but personally I wanted to give it a chance because it is the only assassin's creed sold without DRM. I am happy to have made and I hope that Ubisoft understands that sell their games without DRM helps reduce piracy. Do not promise anyone that you will love this game. The game in itself is worth 4 stars, I gave it one star less for the labor to install it in my language (Italian) since on windows 8.1 vmware did not work, and on mac I had to work very hard.
