Assassin's Creed®: Director's Cut

Sadly this game does not run properly on Windows 11. After so much troubleshooting I can't get it to work. I give up.

This game is a broken mess. I want to like it. I really do. The visuals are stunning for its age. The story line sounds fascinating--at least what I saw of it. The controller maps all the wrong buttons even though my controller is listed. When I manually set them up--the game promptly forgot them. I did this several times with the same crappy results. And please, don't tell me k/m--I can't physically use them any more. I now only purchase games that use a controller for that reason. It's impossible to exit. I had to *reboot the computer* just to turn it off on a number of occassions. This happened so often that it is too much of a PITA to play. For some insane reason it is set-up to assume that you have nothing better to do all day than play this game or else it is irretrievably broken. I know from the gaming forums online, this is not uncommon. I think the reason this game gets crappy reviews isn't the game so much as the tedium in trying to get it to work properly.

Not quite a 4 star game but definitely worth checking out. The design and graphic style are great but the game becomes a bit sluggish which made me lose interest after a bit. Still managed to complete the game and enjoyed it, but the animus stuff was dumb and took away from the story. It's currently the only AC on GOG so definitely grab this if you can.

THIS IS ASSASSINS CREED 1 AND IT IS THE FOUNDATION FOR MUCH MORE ICONIC,BEAUTIFUL,ANDMOST INFLUENTIAL GAME SERIES IN THE WAORLD. ITS A TAD BIT BUGY but just atad!

I love playing this game. It's a game I can play for hours without getting bored or frustrated. The fighting is excellent. I love climbing towers and jumping of them. The assassinations are very interesting. They are not boss fights. The challenge is to pull off the assassinations without drawing too much attention, and then escaping if you do. The three cities are quite large and fun to explore. The story is layered and intriguing. The graphics hold up pretty well too. And, you get to ride a horse.
