Imagine a place of wonder, where magick and technology coexist in an uneasy balance, and an adventurer might just as easily wield a flintlock pistol as a flaming sword. A place where great industrial cities house castle keeps and factories, home to Dwarves, Humans, Orcs and Elves alike. A place of Ancient runes and steamworks, of magick and machines, of sorcery and science. Welcome to the land of Arcanum.

Forgotten Masterpiece!
This is my favorite game of all time-- such a shame Troika's gone forever. I don't know what to say to make you buy it, reader, but please, DO BUY IT! This game is so very good!

A Great Steampunk RPG
The only complain I have about the game is also one of its best features. The game is HUDGE and very open! You can sink dozens of hours into this game without significantly moving the plot forward! I also love how magic vs. silence is handled. Like if how you are strong in one, the has random failures in your presence. This means if you pick one side and max it, don't expect the other to work for you. In addition there is a great crafting system for both paths, and the world has locations that reject or love you based on you acceptance of magic or science. Now what if you don't want to mess with ether path? That is fine too, but all builds benefit from a few points in one side or another. Like a thief with darkness spells works well, as does a fighter with knowledge of making weapons. So if you want a long game, this is a great deal for $6.

Good, but a bit linear
The title of my review says it all. The game is good, but a bit linear. It reminds me a lot of the fallout games, but the execution just isn't as good. It lacks all the humor of games like fallout, and character development just isn't as important as it is in other games. Ok, you can choose to be a tech or a mage, but everything else seems sort of superficial (I know many sword-and-sorcery nuts who would disagree). Maybe I've just become jaded. Still, it is by itself a very good game and well worth $6, but I think it lacks the replayability of the games it emulates.
