100% out of this world

I believe I played this game for the very first time on the Amiga, back in 1992. I was twelve and distinctly remember thinking that this was the coolest game I had ever seen. The intro sequence, whilst completely void of speech or dialogue, was just riveting... and, soon after the game started, you couldn’t just sit on you thumbs or you'd end up dead... which kind of happened to me frequently. Regardless, this is one of those masterpieces that really gets your brain cells working while trying to come up with a way to move past every single obstacle and get to the end of your journey. Furthermore, the game mechanics are simple, easy to get into, and the soundtrack creates the perfect atmosphere. Graphics may feel dated, even on this 15th Anniversary Edition, but you won’t really care. This one is all about the story and were it takes you. Unfortunately, there's always a downside and, in this case, is the game's longevity. Don't get me wrong, there is loads of replayability value here. But if you have played it before, it shouldn't really take you more than 3 hours to finish. I would rated it with 5 stars, hands down, if not for this reason alone. Still, I highly recommend it. Trust me… it will blow your mind!

Full of Surprise and Fun. Even Today.

I watched video walkthrough of this game years ago and interested in. It looked bloody hard to beat, but somehow I felt something unusual in this game and every sequences were unforgettable even I wasn't actually playing. Now, GOG.com has kindly given me the opportunity to play this fantastic gem so I took it. And you know what? This game totally blew my mind! This game is like experiencing the sci-fi movie itself. Today, so many games are providing such experiences with high-resolution movies and tons of scripts which sometimes leaves players "waiting in front of the monitors". It's not always a bad thing, but definitely not "experiencing" if you know what I mean. And that's why I loved this game so much even I played this old game for the first time. It's actually feels like YOU are the hero of the sci-fi movie. And you can play it! Puzzles are hard for sure, but pretty well-made and once you passed them, you would be surprised how things can be settled like that. And those who is not confident beating such puzzles, don't worry. It's hard, but not impossible. I mean, you REALLY SHOULDN'T avoid this game just because this game looks hard. Now, I voted "Heart of the Alien", which is related to this game in the community. I'll wait for it GOG! I'll wait!

Precise Timing

I first played this game on the SEGA Genesis, and boy was it hard. This game is just one big beginner's trap after another. You require playing this game 100 times just to memorize every single action to perform, and there are only two kinds of actions... Right Actions and Wrong Actions, nothing in between. Before there were Quick Time Events in video games there was Another World, a.k.a. QTE The Video Game.

Nostalgia

I played this game on my cousin's computer when it was new, and then forgot the name and was unable to locate it again for years. Coming back to it was joy. The environment is imaginative and gameplay compelling. I do have a few nitpicks from a modern perspective. This game is hard; dying never loses you too much progress, but it will still happen with astounding frequency. Many of these are trial and error deaths, you must try different approaches until eventually one results in survival. Additional checkpoints are appreciated, though a save feature would still be nice. Puzzles are often frustrating as well, it not being clear what the goal is, or whether you have made success impossible accidentally. It remains a great game, however.

Another World

I really wanted to like this but the collision detection is poor and checkpoints can be frustratingly far between. Artwork and aesthetic are excellent.
