Anna's Quest

Don't be fooled by the juvenile look. This is indeed a game playable by very young gamers, but it's so well crafted that it's amusing for people of any age. Puzzles sometimes are crazy, but come one... this game is a little crazy by premise (your companion is a talking teddy bear, after all) The story is more mature than you might feel after the first 10 minute of the game. It's layered. Again, it's lighthearted, but compelling enough to amuse anybody. Other reviews bash the voice actor of Anna. Don't listen to them. They just didn't get why the character is acted that way. Anna is a naive girl who's not afraid of anything, in part because of bravery, in part because of she's naive. That's part of the charm of the game. When everything goes wrong, you can expect Anna to be calm as steel. Reccomended if you crave for entertaining adventures.

Unbearably cute and well-drawn. I'd say it might be too unsophisticated for most modern 10-year olds, but a good starter adventures for the littles . Got it here very cheap on sale, so no complains from me. 3 +1/2.

This game is a typical point-and-click adventure game aimed at kids. Everything is very polished. Nice graphics, a good interface, reasonable voice actors, a variety of environment and puzzles. The beginning is a bit slow, and Anna really speaks a lot, which may be slightly annoying for an adult audience. As the game progresses, however, the story becomes more interesting, and the game in enjoyable until the very end. Focusing more on the puzzles, in my opinion they are very good. Most of them can be solved by logic but also require some creativity. I did not find any impossible obstacle, as I could finish the game without external help. There is some social justice "preaching" in the game, but it is not excessive to break the immersion in the story. Overall, this game is mostly enjoyable for young kids or by parents and kids together. For an adult, instead, this adventure is all right, but there are frankly more interesting products out there.

Excellent adventure game. The game's storyline is inspired in several fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm. Although some of the themes might not sound adequate for a younger audience at first, they were actually children's stories in 19th and early 20th century Europe. I played this game with a young girl and the game actually opens the door to tell the original fairy tales. The voice acting, characters and puzzles are all very rewarding. Only negative point is the ending, which seems rushed and fails to connect all the dots of previous chapters. Nevertheless, excluding the very end, this game will provide +15 hours of solid gameplay and challenges. If you enjoy point-and-click adventure games with a good storyline this is highly recommended.

I bought it on a whim as reviews were good on several sites and it was on sale. Games was good, but a little syrupy sweet so I could only play for short periods. The storyline is kind of strange as it seems darker than what I expected with a nod to science but not with an ending I expected. Some of the puzzles were not intuitive so I did have to refer to a walkthru occassionally. But all in all, I was entertained. One thing was the various pronunciations of names and other words by the voice actors. I am curious about the protocols normally used to ensure all actors are consistent. Voice acting in this game was very good except for that one thing.
