Among the Sleep - Enhanced Edition

This is a great horror game, not really survival horror because it's mainly exploration, but you'll still get your pants scared off. I really like the perspective of a child as well, made this a unique experience. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it took me 2 hours to finish. There should be a bit more stuff especially considering that it isn't really something worth going back to. In summary, I'd get it, but don't expect too much.

Among the Sleep probably has minimal replay value, but as an original virtual experience and psychological exploration, it's really worth at least one play through. You play as a toddler in search of their mother, with only a talking (!) teddy bear for comfort and guidance. The world-building is very good; you see everything through the eyes of the kid, which leads to some fairly fantastical levels. The experience also has compelling atmosphere: sound design, lighting, and visual effects all work very well to fill the player with foreboding and dread. As far as a stealth horror experience, this title is more like a video game companion to The Babadook, running a similar sort of story. As such, the focus is more on the narrative and tension than on outright running and hiding from monsters. I felt this was a bit of a mistake on the part of the designers. The original concept was to have imaginative childhood apparations chasing you through the whole game, but this really only happens in the middle level, the overgown house. It's a shame because the game needs more of a sense of threat. At least one level has it, and it's a lot of fun, especially given that you're a tiny child that can hide under so many objects. Among the Sleep is best experienced in a single playthrough, so that tension and dread is sustained. Carve out three hours, and spend some time discovering how scary the world can appear to a little child.

I don't like this game... it's innovative, sometimes creepy, but... so boring! First time I want to uninstall it after 20 minutes, then after 40 minutes, after one hour I was almost sure I will drop this game. So I had a one day break, then I finished it after another one hour! Really? 15 dollars for 2 hour game? This game is something like "The Path", poetic game... but not playable... with no chance for playing again.

It is trully masterpiece. That game will bring real fear into your heart, just play it by night, with headphones and nothing bothers you. You must imagine beeing that 2yo kido, with that bizzare, horrifying and at the same time verry moving story. I am delighted by those couple of hours, amazed how it was possible to make me scarry with such things... Maybe story is not so riach, but verry intense after its all shape's revealed... And believe me - even if you will partly guess the ending just like me, you still will be amazed by this one. Great climate, verry good sound and music, and also graphic is well made. Really must have position.

A very immersive horror-experience with an unusual perspective and great and creative design. Graphics and sounds are excellent. I liked it, but unfortunately it's a short experience (In two hours I finished it). But it's an experience that will last in your memory.
