Brilliant boomer-shooter with an even better DLC. Looks incredible with injected HDR through Special K and runs great, highly recommended.

1. Game is a decent homage to boomers as per title, but doesn't add anything of note to the genre, if that's of interest to you 2. Weapon variety is good & they all have their use case for different encounters 3. Running around is fluid 4. Lots of platforming. Jumping isn't always precise, so some stages can get a little annoying. 5. This game needs to be played on hard difficulty or higher

It serves as a great love letter to shooters from the late 90s. The weapons all work great with each other, each one is distinct enough that every weapon serves its own unique purpose. The levels feel reminiscent of a 90s shooter. The worlds feel different enough from each other. My only real complaint is that the platforming occasionally overstays its welcome.

Very reminiscent of Quake with a fantasy horror twist. Your "pistol" is a staff that shoots homing projectiles, your "shotgun" is a sword that shoots waves of energy, and your "rocket launcher" is a staff that shoots PLANETS (Earth included). It can be a bit no frills. There's no inventory management aside from juggling your arsenal and you immediately use any pickups. I, for one, don't mind simplicity so long as the core game is well designed, and it is. It's also a tough SOB, even on easy, but not unfairly so. They included cheat codes in the main menu if you find the game a bit too difficult, and loading your last save when you die is lightning fast. The graphics for the most part are damn good. The enemies are a bit janky looking up close, but they are well animated, and it's always easy to tell when they die. Plus their deaths are based on the weaqpon you used.

Not much to say, this game is a work of love towards the three milestone titles above. The gameplay and gunplay is chiseled to be satisfying all of the time, the levels need thinking. This should be acclaimed worldwide together with the best FPSs ever.
