Charming Prototype to the Syberia Magic
As a long-time fan of the Syberia series, I finally decided to experience Amerzone, and I'm genuinely glad I did. While it definitely shows its age and isn't without flaws, it's also full of the charm, imagination, and atmosphere that would later define Benoît Sokal's best work. The worldbuilding is where Amerzone really shines. Even though the game is fairly short, the environments feel mysterious and alive, and the art direction already carries Sokal's unmistakable touch - beautiful, slightly melancholic, and rich with intrigue. Exploring the strange wildlife and unique technology of the Amerzone was a real treat. That said, some aspects of the story feel underdeveloped, and there are moments where you can tell the narrative ambitions exceed the game's early technical limitations. A few plot points could have used more depth, and the pacing sometimes rushes you onward just when things start to get interesting. But even with its imperfections, Amerzone is a fascinating piece of adventure-game history. It's a clear precursor to Syberia, and as a fan, I found real joy in seeing the seeds of ideas and themes that would later flourish. If you enjoy classic point-and-click adventures, atmospheric worlds, or Sokal's distinctive storytelling, this old gem is absolutely worth a play.

Does not work on 64-bit Win7
I've just posted a topic about this on the forum: (gog.com/forum/amerzone_the_explorer_s_legacy/how_to_change_graphics_setting_this_game_does_not_run_properly_on_64bit_win_7) Movies freeze, basically rendering the game unplayable. Tried compatibility mode and other fix attempts, but to no avail. I think Gog.com should add a DosBox version to make it work in this OS or at least put an alert on the game page warning 64-bit Windows users not to buy it.

Nice, but OSX version is broken.
While this starts as a nice and beautiful adventure, the mac version is completely broken. Obviously there are videos and soundfiles missing (from chapter 3 on) which prevent the game from working from a certain point on.

Doesn't work
Unnfortunally, the game doesn't work. I tried everything I could find on the board or internet in general and Amerzone doesn't start. Only a splashscreen with a logo and it crash. It's an awesome game from my childhood and I was really hopping to play it again... please, misters de, try to fix it ? So I can really give it a good review.
