One of the best.

This is one of the best horror survival games out there, even after 8 (almost 9) years. The graphics is still stunning, the sound is amazing and the Alien AI still terrifyingly unpredictable. Yes, there are a few scripted Alien appearances, but all the other appearances depend entirely on you (and other people) and how much noise you all make. The game is not really scary (as we know that we are hunted by the Alien), but it's super tense. Hearing the Alien thrashing about in the vents, wondering where and when he'll drop down is anxiety inducing and you'll either love it or hate it. You will also quickly learn to look for vents and places to hide in each new room you enter. You can't kill the Alien, but you do have several gadgets to help you avoid detection. Just be careful as the Alien will learn of your antics and may not get fooled if you use the same tactics over and over again. If you love horror survival games, give this one a shot, you won't be disappointed.

Very atmospheric Alien experience.

It was made with respect to the original movie and it shows. The game is very well made. Visuals are great and detailed. Level design is great. Alien behavior is smart. Music on point and the sounds, oh the sounds... All together it works exceptionally well and offers a very unsettling horror vibe. I really enjoyed it even if it's rather long. I would recommend it to every Alien or Prey (2017) fan. Must be played on Hard.

A Gem

*Played on Steam* This game is an absolute gem, especially of you loved the Alien movies. It looks exactly like you're in the film, down to the smallest details. The game is terrifying to an extent that I often had to take breaks to calm down. There's very little gore compared to many horror games and there's nothing that's outright disturbing such as the case with Outlast. What makes it so frightening is the Alien. The AI is unreal. The thing is always, ALWAYS hunting you. It can hear you, smell you, even trick you. You can hide, but that only works for so long as it will eventually learn your hiding places. I have never felt so immersed in a game in 20 years of playing. It's runs exceptionally well, even on my potato computer and yet looks stunning. It looks, and I don't exaggerat, just like the 1979 movie. This is a must buy, even if you aren't a Alien fan.

It ain't that good.

Got this as a freebie on Epic a while ago. After all the hype, I came away somewhat disappointed. The much-praised Alien AI is nothing to write home about. It's as basic as you can get: You run or make too much noise, the game will spawn the alien just outside of your line of sight to instakill you. I don't believe for a second that this has "adaptive AI" in any way whatsoever, it's just simple trickery achieved through scripting: Level so-and-so: Alien runs for its life at the mere sight of a flamethrower. Level so-and-so later in the game: Alien doesn't care. The talk about "adaptive" AI is all smoke and mirrors on the dev's part. Stealth in this game sucks: Alien Isolation's idea of stealth is very similar to the way stealth is implemented in, say, Fallout 3: You crouch => Congratulations, you're invisible! You walk => Oh noes, you're visible! You run => Game decides you've been naughty and sends an enemy after you. Add to that annoying QTEs, a cumbersome save system, a slew of bugs and crashes, the unbelievably silly contrivance of not letting you pick up the guns and ammo of slain enemies, borked console controls with 100 things tied to a single button, convoluted mission design where by the time you reach your goal you'll have forgotten why you went there in the first place, a crescendo of ugly, irritating graphics effects that require you to have a bottle of Ibuprofen at hand, and so on. Final verdict: You want the ultimate sci-fi survival horror experience? Get System Shock 2. You want the ultimate stealth experience? Get Thief Gold. You want survival horror against a single omniscient foe? Get White Day. If you're ok with a game that kinda tries being all of the above and doesn't get any of it quite right but kinda makes up for it with the Alien license and kool retro-futuristic aesthetics? Can't go too wrong with this one. For 10 bucks or less I'd say you'll get your money's worth. Despite its myriad shortcomings, it's still mostly a solid horror game.
