Description

In Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms, the fate of a land ravaged by ancient rivalries and dark forces lies in your hands. Step into the beautifully brutal world of Plamen, a realm divided among kingdoms, each with its own unique cultures, mysteries, and conflicts. Guided by tales of honor and vengeance, you take on the role of a mighty champion, forging your path to glory and fighting to withstand the ever-growing corruption of Alaloth, a malevolent god imprisoned in the mortal realm.

The vast, fully explorable world of Plamen awaits, a realm of sprawling kingdoms and wild frontiers, each filled with unique inhabitants and dangers at every turn. Journey through lush forests, towering mountains, and barren wastelands where the four distinct races have carved out their own domains, each with complex histories and turbulent relationships. Alongside warriors and rogues, you’ll encounter powerful mages who have honed their skills across diverse schools, from elemental mages wielding fire and lightning to necromancers drawing power from dark realms. As you venture deeper, prepare to face deadly mobs and legendary beasts twisted by Alaloth’s corruption, their very existence a test of your skill and strategy. Everywhere you go, ancient ruins, sacred sites, and thriving cities offer stories waiting to unfold tales of lost civilizations, epic rivalries, and secrets guarded for centuries. Each region brims with lore, quests, and characters that reveal the layered history of Plamen, creating an unforgettable experience in a world where every decision shapes your journey.

Console Game

🔍Outdated review. The game currently has full mouse+keyboard support. - GOG Staff This game has no mouse support. The point of this post is to save the people that pay money from having to deal with gog's customer support for a refund. Dev's argue that 'yes it does have mouse support' because left click does this, and right click does that. There is no cursor, you can not select anything. There is no mouseover. Imagine making a game like this in 2022 and not only failing to do something so obvious, but then arguing you did good. How can you design an entire game like this with no thought of the cursor? Think of all it influences in a basic run of the mill game like Diablo 1? Mouseover tooltips, selection, movement, UI elements/buttons. This is lousy isometric dodge combat with a controller. Literally scraping the barrel as far as combat systems available. Also, it only has splitscreen couch co-op. I'm sure some of you play pc games on a couch and tv screen, with your jug of corn syrup on some reinforced end table, but most people play a pc game at a desk. Couch co-op is a thing console games have. Dev's see no issue with this, and they also see no issue with the only way of contacting them is via discord. $10 artbook, $10 mp3 soundtrack, and a $10 supporter pack (cosmetics, pets, wallpapers which should be with the artbook, 'in game resources'). I guess making a decent isometric rpg is something of a lost art, so many stinkers being released lately, amirite? Feel free to downvote this in the future, I know how that makes you people feel so good, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll be sure to edit this. - That's a joke, seriously, why are so many so clueless. This is gog, basic shit like editing a review isn't possible.

Console Controls

🔍Outdated review. The game currently has full mouse+keyboard support. - GOG Staff If you don't plan to play this game with a controller, then better don't buy it. Unplayable with mouse and keyboard: - No mouse cursor. - No character turning/positioning with the mouse, only WASD for movement. - Half of the keyboard buttons (shift, ctrl ...) can not be configured. Refunded.

massive with ton of potential

i like the combat a lot it has a souls like feel to it, the world is massive with ton to do, the art style is fantastic. there are a few unique ideas that i really love like the competitive campaign where you and the AI race each over throughout the campaign. you can also mix abilities from different classes and the game starts from a different starting point depends on your race which adds to the immersion. as of today there is a problem with the mouse and keyboard controls but the developer stated that they are aware and will fix it. this shows a lot of promise as long as the developer continues to polish the game.

Ambitious early access ARPG/CRPG

This game ticks a lot of the right boxes for me, though many see it as a negative I like controller focused arpgs and while I can't comment on what k&m is like, I like the how it plays on controller. I also like the scope and depth of the game and its opting for a more skill based combat system somewhat akin to dark souls type games, and combining that with old school crpg vibes. The game is difficult and feels unfair at times, but i'm quite intrigued by it. It's not 'just another arpg' but is trying to strive for something bigger than that. Whether it succeeds or not, I'm not sure but I like what i've seen so far. That said, so many promising projects get abandoned in early access these days, there is a risk of that here too. But if like me you're curious and want to support something that's mixing things up in novel and ambitious ways you could do worse. Otherwise i'd recommend just keeping an eye on this one as it develops because I really think it could become something pretty special.

Really good systems + potential

There are a lot of systems in this game that are ambitious in attempting to fix a lot of the tedium and mediocrity of older RPG systems. The combat is very flexible and fun. Yes you should play with a controller, but that is typical of action-heavy games. Adding more kb/mouse support would be nice, but I don't think it takes away from the experience. It's fast paced, dynamic, and feels great once you learn it. Navigating the world and choosing your adventure is gamified and is impacted by skills and items rather than being a running simulator. Gear heavily impacts play style. Varied enemy types heavily impact playstyle. Having competing protagonists adds a new layer of depth to the genre. The stat system is pretty boring and the abilities are a mixed bag in terms of fun-ness. So overall this is an innovative and fun game that, while could use some refining, is still a great addition to the landscape and very worth your time.
