I like it.
If you are into WW2 Carrier Action, this is pretty good. Not much on combat action, but there is a lot of strategy to keep your mind engaged.

I love it.
Not much action, nice little micromanaging an aircrtaft carrier. It's great fun, if you're into that sort of thing.

Management, tending micro
Your primary task is deciding which aircraft to launch [1], when, in order to achieve your WW2 missions. What goes up must come down, so you might need to land returning aircraft instead of launching an urgent mission. You can't keep all the aircraft you want ready on deck, so adjusting what is sent to the hanger instead is important [2]. All this takes time, so crew management becomes important, enhanced by awarding medals after missions to improve the performance of certain crewmembers in certain departments/situations [3]. Officers, in contrast, are used to set priorities and boost performance of certain departments. This does take micro-management, and is especially annoying that there is a long cooldown after they have issued an order in one control-room before they can change it (sucks if you click by mistake) or move to another room. This was one feature I did not like. The other was the carrier escort fleet. There is too little explanation of how to use these and some restrictions don't make much sense. An escort carrier provides a 'free' Combat Air Patrol without using my own fighters, for example, but I still need to schedule and launch the fighters from my deck, which is exactly what I'm trying to avoid or I'd just send the patrol on my own! All in all it's a good strategy/management game but some things can feel a little contrived at times. Notes: [1] On the recon/identify launch panel, before clicking the 'launch' button itself, you can move the aircraft type slider between dive and torpedo bombers. [2] Sending flights of aircraft to the hanger is not explained in the tutorial: with a flight on deck, right-click and drag to the lift to send them down. [3] Comments that Damage Control, for instance, don't do anything without micro-management seem to be out of date. As long as I set their focus (fire, flooding, mechanical, medical) they go to and tackle problems effectively.
