Age of Wonders 3 Deluxe Edition

I'll start off by saying, I love this game. It's a great balance of TBS and rpg-lite hero progression. I understand that some people seem to want to play the campaign, but I never touch campaigns in a game like this. I generate the largest random map I can and go wild. This game shines in enormous random maps, imo. Secondly, a word on DRM. Logging in to an online service in order to access said online service isn't DRM. You don't have to sign up or log into anything to play the game; only to play online, and this is not a multiplayer game at heart. If that is a deal breaker, I feel sorry for you because you're missing out on one of the best TBS games I've played. tl;dr - ignore the blowhards decrying the game for drm; I've been playing this for months and I've never signed into or signed up for anything.

Maybe I'm simply too much a fan of 4k games like "Master of Orion 2" to appreciate anything less than perfection, however still I didn't particularly enjoy the game. It isn't particularly bad, but I didn't find anything particularly enjoyable either. The campaign is short (few missions) and somehow dispersive. I played it once (elf campaign) and didn't feel the need for another run, so that's why I don't feel like promoting this game. At some point I started to use cheats simply to get quickly to the end. The interface is not convincing and the turn based system seems planned to slow down the user, rather than carefully planning strategies. The fact that it tries to compel the user to be online is another annoying factor. I would consider it a major flaw if it was a great game. Being somehow a half-rated production, sincerely, I couldn't care less. I don't think I'm going to play it again anytime in the future.

If I wanted a sequel that didn't live up to the original, I'd go play Total War: Rome 2. Fancier graphics made the gameplay slower. Units feel a bit more generic. The cheating AI keeps max stacks on its cities when it could be killing you with them - I hate AIs that don't try. I want more bite in a fantasy game. I want excitement. This game's simply dull.

AI in this game is pretty weak, esp. in comparison with Planetfall, where I find AI is much better. Trying to fool users to create online account if also shameful. Overall, good game with some faults and bad management decisions.

I wanted to relieve my youth of late teenager with a twist of 3rd sequel, I was somewhat disappointed before the game began by understanding after looking in all options and folders in game on GoG directory that itg is ONLY OFFLINE mode on a Triumph wall access. there is nothing said anywhere and I wasted so much time like reading through all that copyright bullshit in notepad. So yeah people buy it only if you understand it is OFFLINE and therefore NO NEED TO CREATE TRIUMPH BS ACCOUNT
