Soothing Experience for the Casual Gamer

The occasional gamer that I am had a wonderful time with the artistically beautiful game that is AER: Memories of Old. It is a pleasantly relaxing experience of a video game. No timer, no fixed path to the resolution of the conflict and not even a single foe to beat. You play as Auk, a young woman with the ability to soar through the air as she can transform herself into a large, colorful feathered creature. The land presented to you is full of floating island, and although the game can be beaten in a couple of hours, there is an exquisite pleasure to take your time, fly around and locate the hidden secrets and lore available to discover. The high-polygon graphic, mixed with an incredible soundtrack and good sound effects make the experience ever so immersing, especially with headphones. However, the control can be sometime left to desire, especially while flying. As there is no real consequences when making a wrong maneuver, the somewhat difficult controls can be forgiven. In this game, you will also have to explore a few caverns and caves. There is some element of puzzle and platforming in these sections. Nonetheless, they are all somewhat achievable, even for a casual or young gamer. I wish the mythology was more extensive, although the vagueness of it helps you reflect more extensively about the subject at hand. As my competence as a video game player are rather limited, I felt ease and peacefulness playing this title. It is an experience that seems to be difficult to find in today's video game landscape, one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Let your guard down, take your time, make mistakes, enjoy the scenery and the lore. AER: Memories of Old will slowly showcase what it has to offer in your own time. I purchased this game at a heavily discounted price. I played this game for about five hours. I would wholeheartedly recommend this title. 4,5/5

Flight Simulator Lite

This game is just a flight simulator. The main character is a shapeshifter who can become a bird, and that's all. The story is extremely shallow, there's no clear objective, and by the time I stopped playing, which was less than 5 hours, I had almost all of the achievements. I disliked this so much I requested a refund. I looks like it was a game to test mechanics. And I can't say I didn't like the flight mechanic, that part was pretty nice, but it had to be inserted into a proper game. 2 stars, because the graphics and soundtrack are ok, and the flight is cool.

En enjoyable interlude

Not sure if I'd pay full price, but I found my 4 hours with Aer to be very relaxing. The interaction is minimal and there's mostly light platforming, finding things to read and the lovely flight controls. If the studio makes another game, I do hope they re-use the soaring mechanic.

Nice ideas ...but

This game is no adventure game as such, not a real puzzle game, to me it seems like a 'proof of concept' type game where the developers are showing there ability to put together a game with interesting ideas (some borrowed i dare say, but still nice). Good Parts: - if you like games that don't require much effort its one of them. - the art is really nice, colorful and vibrant and quite beautiful. - the story isn't bad if you read it. - the music is supposed to be relaxing, and it does that. - this is more of a 'basic' kids game, totally kid friendly even down to the puzzles. - flying is quite fun (shame i can't turn into more creatures). - the 'memories' add well to the story and show many events of the past. Bad Parts: - No humor/side-quests/voice acting/no interactions with anything/Nothing to attack/No chests or quest given items/Nothing hidden. - Quest places seem a little here n there so finding them can get a little annoying at times. - Character movement gets a little annoying as its like driving a car at times when they skid to a halt. Im hoping for a 2nd but this time much much better now we know what the Dev team can do.. i want to see this game with hidden stuff/enemies/harder puzzles/a reason to travel the world/side quests/side games or mini-games/interaction/humor/shops/a world like 'shadow of the colossus' but darker in battles n story but with two player mode n more stuff in the worlds, things to save maybe n maybe a few endings. Maybe this game can lead onto another story?. Worth buying?... Yes if you want a game that has very simple puzzles and like just wasting time flying around. No if you want an adventure game with puzzles that are a little challenging.

A good game but lacks optimisation.

It is a relaxing game, gets the basics right but does not run well on decent hardware.
