Nice drift racing game with nice and clean minimalistic graphics
Pro:
Challenging
Everything is focus on gameplay
nice soundtrack
once learned, due huge learning curve, it's rewarding
well optimized game made with unity
Cons:
no key/buttons remapping
too short
not for casuals: handling is intentionally challenging
I finished this game a while back and didn't know there was a review process for GOG so I'm reviewing this off memory.
So this game has a really nice atmosphere and it encourages a very specific kind of player who isn't as niche as one would think but also not as widespread either. The controls are really tight and extremely satisfying when you pull off a good combo or what you're set out to do.
The visuals are nice and simple and also has a distinct art style which is really appreciated as well. Finally the soundtrack is really one of the best I've heard in a while.
So all in all, I would recommend this game on a sale or if someone is REALLY into drifting or arcade kind of gameplay or even a relaxing time in between mainline games.
One of the worst games I've ever played. I think I played this game for 10 minutes then gave up.
It is in no way intuitive how to play this game. Just driving to the first "tutorial" is bad. There are no actual tutorials. I went to the Tutorial Event but it gave me zero instructions. I played Free-Roam and only then was I at least give controls. No tutorial still. The only thing close is loading tips.
I expected a heck of a lot more based on the title. I've played racing games before but apart from the visuals (which is just minimalist), it's horrible.
Your first clue is a intro menu that is slanted over at about 330 degrees to give some stylist look.
You get options to select various control profiles and assists.
Upon playing the game you get a kind of top down view, again at some bizzare angle off to give a isometric effect.
Your car accelerates very slowly with the steering precision of one of those old American Sedan Cars built for comfort i.e slow and wallowy.
There's red cubes on the map you are to hit to collect, along with walls and various objects making up the map.
Due to how slowly your car accelerates and moves through the gears ( auto or manual ) theres a real disconnect in control, add in super brakes and the games challenge vs reward and fun is a aquired taste.
Would maybe of been something i'd of played on an old 8 bit system decades ago, mainly due to lack of decent games back then, but now, it isn't for me. Pretty sure there will be someone who dedicates all their time to this type of game and loves it. It just isn't me though. I find it puzzling it gets such rave 5 star reviews.
I have no idea what a clutch is, a very vague idea about how the handbrake is meant to be used, the game keeps telling me to stop accelerating so much despite that being the only way to stop yourself from slamming against a wall, and to top it all off the tutorials kick you back to the menu every minute just to make learning that much more annoying.
