Good story based action adveture

It was a good experience, sound, graphics, voice acting and story are superb. Only some of the more importent battles, were a bit clunky mechanic-wise. Recommended!

Very Fun and Interesting

This game is great. I was always curious to play it and I'm glad I finally did. The graphiocs are absolutely gorgeous! They're better than some AAA titles! Fantastic job from the devs to make such a beautiful game. The gameplay is fun. It's not your typical "kill everything that moves" game. Instead, you have to think carefully about your tactic and adapt at a moments notice. The sound design and music are phenomenal. The sound design was so good that I swear, after I would finish playing, I could still hear some rats in my room! I only have a few critiques like the story. It was good overall but a bit too unreal for me. Also, some stealth sections are more annoying than fun. Still, those few gripes are not enough for me to dislike the game. Buy it and play it, you won't regret it! IAlso, switch the spoken language to French for the ultimate immersion.

Solid story with not demanding gameplay

The game was very satisfying in terms of relaxing gameplay and decent story. It has its memorable moments as well as characters. Don't expect challenging puzzles or fights. You will be sneaking most of the time. Visuals, environments and controls are great. I believe you will have good time.

Cinematic without direction

A Plague Tale: Innocence is a game that tries to invoke the spectacle of a Hollywood action film through linear setpieces and slow, dialouge-heavy walk-and-talk sections. This is an effort that, in priciple, I have no problem with. Not every game needs to conform to a certain style of play, and a focus on story over control is as valid a design choice as any. However, if a game wishes to emphasize its cinematic elements, it needs both the direction to make use of games as a seperate medium to film and the commitment to being a game that only appeals to a select few. A simple example of how Plauge Tale tends to fail at both can be seen in the crafting system. Here we have a system that really serves no purpose in the grander design of the game; a tacked on and cumbersome mechanic that only exists because this is a video game and video games have crafting mechanics. Already annoying to interact with on its own, the crafting system also directs the player's eye downward to look for materials, often drawing away from the grand spectacle that is the entire appeal of the game! When not distracing from its own best qualities, Plague tale can really stun with beautiful visuals and fantasticly designed locations, a few of which do make great use of the intamacy with the protagonists that is inherent to the medium of video games, such as a truly haunting level where the player must cross a field of bodies in the aftermath of a war. Unfortunately, the act of playing these levels can be frustrating enough to undo the magic, with the game being all too eager to kill the player for stepping the slightest bit off path during an action scene, which can send one back through minutes of what amounts to just holding the thumbstick forward. If the idea of the game sounds cool enough to you that what I've written hasn't turned you off, you'll probably like it, as the game can get quite impressive when its at its best. I did like it, just found it could have been much better.

Well Worth Trying

Presentation is fantastic across the board with great voice acting and beautiful graphics. Environments are linear but still full of atmosphere with small amounts of explorations for some collectibles. The story is about Amicia and her younger brother Hugo surviving both an ever encroaching infestation of rats across France while avoiding soldiers who are looking to kidnap Hugo due to his connect to the rats. Along the way You will meet and be helped by other kids all impacted differently but the plague. There is a supernatural element that I really enjoyed and the supporting cast were mostly likably or charming in their own way. The ending with Melie was very abrupt and felt rushed but I enjoyed the story otherwise. Gameplay is mostly stealth but a few levels narrative based with minor puzzles and character interactions. The stealth is fairly simple but satisfying know that Amicia cannot fight back, she can attack with her sling but if enemies get too close they will instantly kills her. This is not a big issue as the level design is built well for this mind. There are some boss battles which work well mostly with Amicia having to hit the boss in weak spots or use the environment to her advantage. The one boss I had issue with was the final one that utilizes the rats, I founds it clunky overall and not the most engaging but I understood what they were going for. A plague Tale has ended being a favorite of mine in recent years and worth checking out it you like stealth games especially in alternative history settings with the supernatural elements.
