An incredible experience!

The game is very cinematic, it's not focused on mastering the gameplay and whatnot but on following along & experiencing the story. What gameplay & mechanics there are is definitely plenty fun and engaging for the duration of the game, new patterns and shenanigans being introduced at intervals to keep things interesting & gradually more challenging. Some puzzles, not difficult & not terribly important to the overall experience. The characters are charming, very distinct & very well done. The voice acting (English) is fabulous, really supports the narative because the characters constantly chat & quibble amongst themselves, or to themselves. The text in my estimation is fantastic, never once was I annoyed by the dialogue or thought it out of place or breaking the immersion. The score is really powerfull & boosts the mood in an incredible way. The game looks very good and the environment is very well done. The general atmosphere likewise really creates tension or relief in proportion to whatever's happening in the story. Quite lovely, make sure not to miss this!

Exceeded all Expectations

A Plague Tale: Innocence is a game that I went in with no real expectations about the game. I saw from reviews that the game seemed good, and decided to give it a try, thinking that I would like it, but maybe not finish it right away. I finished it in two days. It is a wonderful experience broken apart into chapters, where you go through the journey of Amicia, Hugo, and other people they find along the way trying to survive in medieval Europe. It took me around 11 hours to finish the game, and that wasn't with finding all of the collectibles. The atmosphere in the game can go from forboding to hopeful, and from dangerous to suspensful with teh change of a scene. The main draw of the game is certainly the story, but the gameplay is solid, albeit not likely the main reason you play the game.

A hidden Masterpiece

The most meticulously crafted game I've played in a long time! Didnt know about it until seeing the trailer for Requiem @ E3. Requires problem solving and precise excecution. Everything is on point: environments, narrative, writing, voice acting, puzzle design, stealth, combat Enjoyed every second and can't wait for the sequel!

Epic action adventure with awesome graph

First: don't expect this to be a pure (Point&Click) Adventure, it's mainly an Action-(Adventure)-Game. It has a story, but you have to fight and escape or hide very often. But if considering this it's an awesome and epic game with incredible detailed graphics, good voice acting, many many scary moments (I definitely would add the Tag "Horror" to the game!) and an atmospheric soundtrack. The game length is, for this type of game, in my opinion also quite good. I beated it after about 17 hours. Definitely worth the full price. I got it for free on Epic but decided to buy it again on GOG, wanting to support their great work. (And I anyway don't like the Epic client..) So all in all the game is great "fun", emotional, scary and partly also quite challenging and great historical background (sure still fantasy) and setting. But it also has it not so good parts, even I gave 5 stars, but it's still very joyful to play: Sometimes it doesn't feel quite immersive, like for example (maybe mini spoilers ahead!) you have to hide from the soldiers who are searching the house for someome, but then just standing around and talking .. "luckily" giving you enough time to escape from behind.. (okaay..) Generally how the soldiers acting is not so realistic .. sometimes remind me on Skyrim's "Must have been the wind" :D But we all still loved Skyrim, isn't it? :) Also it's sometimes not quite clear what you have to do. But you will figure out after while, don't worry. Prepare to die several times. If that doesn't matter for you, then this is the right game for you.

Another Sony styled movie game.

A Plague Tale takes the format of the last of us with a main character escorting a young child throughout the story. While the graphics are nice the story itself is quite boring and ends with many questions that are never answered. Story wise the biggest issue is just how predictable everything is. New character gets introduced, new character drops a sad story about themselves, new character dies during what is supposed to be an emotional scene. These kind of tropes happen throughout the narrative, I can't remember being truly surprised by any of the writing. When it comes to gameplay it's rather simplistic and more of a walking simulator really. That's pretty bad in my book given that walking sims are a rather lazy way of indie devs getting around the challenge of actually designing a video game. In fact this game commits the cardinal sin of modern AAA titles in that what you do 90% of the time is hold up on the analogue stick to progress to the next cut-scene. There's no deviation, there's just a railroaded path for you to take. Think of the recent RE3 remake, that's what a plague tale does the entire time. The "combat" that does exist is just you hurling rocks at soldiers and one hit killing them, seriously. It was particularly amusing to see this done in one of the "boss fights" where our stronk wahmen MC defeats a fully armor clad soldier with a simple slingshot and a few rocks. There's also the industry standard bouts of wokeness, nothing quite as bad as what the AAA game industry pumps out but it's certainty there. Mostly themes such as anti-religion, white men bad, female empowerment, etc. All in all this feels like a project that should have been a film instead of video game. If you or someone you know likes mindless easy games that hold your hand and guide you to the next cut-scene than you'll enjoy A Plague Tale but if you aren't a normie and prefer games with interesting mechanics wrapped around an interesting story I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
