Story:Wipeout is a racing game that is set in 2052, where players compete in the F3600 anti-gravity racing league. The game allows the player to pilot one of a selection of craft in races on several different tracks. There are four racing teams to choose from, and two ships for each team. Each ship has its distinct characteristics of acceleration, top speed, mass, and turning radius. By piloting their craft over power-up pads found on the tracks, the player can pick up various weapons and power-ups such as shields, turbo boosts, mines, shock waves, rockets, or missiles. The power-ups allow the player to either protect their craft or disrupt the competitors' craft.Show more

The game that made PlayStation so popular in the 90s, at home or in the clubs Wipeout was massively popular with folk who dabble with certain "recreational substances". Classic gameplay, classic soundtrack just like Destruction Darby Psygnosis made an instant classic. For me I struggled for a few days to get used to handling the craft, once I did I got addicted.

Played this milestone in racing with my neighbor... Back in the days on Playstation (#1). What made this game unique at that time were the steering mechanics (esp. the air brakes), the speed and the music. The music selection was among contemporary avantgarde electronic music. Did I mention the air brakes yet? The speed was high and the brakes made it possible to drift your flying vehicle smoothly through the course. Those who succeeded handling this, know what I mean...
Wipeout and Mech Warrior 2 came in a software bundle with the Sony Vaio computers, so I played both for years. I even bought a joystick for my pc just for this game. Probably the best racing soundtrack known to man. I have listened to the soundtrack this year, but havn't played the game in over 25 years. Would love to see this again.

Need for Speed: Underground 2
Need for Speed: Underground 2Need For Speed Underground 2 takes place in Bayview after the events of Need for Speed: Underground. The prologue begins with the player driving in a Nissan Skyline R34 in Olympic City (though the racing scenes are actually in Bayview), the setting of NFS:UG. He then receives a race challenge from a rather ominous personality who offers him a spot on his crew, but "won't take 'no' for an answer." The player races off — despite Samantha's warnings — only to be ambushed by a mysterious driver in a rage that totals his Skyline. The driver, who has a unique scythe tattoo, makes a call confirming the accident, and the flashback fades out.
