Played it at a friend's house on the Sega Genesis in my youth, and was frustrated with the difficulty. For years Target Earth bounced around in my brain, and I found its play concepts intriguing. The better you accomplished your mission, the greater rewards you reaped during debrief. You could customize your outfit to your playstyle. You could push the envelope and delay ending missions to improve your rating. And so the game clicked in my mind. I had to have it. I hunted down my own new copy at a withering K·B Toys. I felt like I had procured a lost relic in the age of SNES & Playstation domination... this in the dark times of pre-internet when we called people from wall mounted telephones, and slid plastic squares into desktop computers to access apps. I took my trophy home now determined to save everyone on Ganymede. No one would be left behind. Chron would pay dearly for coming to our solar system, wakening the beast that was me in my Assault Suit.
I pray that GOG enshrines the unedited release for future generations to enjoy.
