What other games from the fifth console generation still look as good as the Spyro trilogy? Rayman 2, maybe? Mega Man Legends? Terracon? (That's a deep cut...) The point is that Spyro is the visual gold standard for the era. Most modern indie games that try to emulate the look of the fifth generation use the aesthetic as a nostalgic gimmick. However, the ones that stick out, that use the aesthetic as a legitimate art style, tend to go one of two ways: Either they follow in the footsteps of Mega Man Legends and embrace pixel art textures, OR they tend to look a lot like Spyro the Dragon. Truth be told, this trilogy didn't need to be "Reignited." Because the games still hold up, whether in their original resolution or in 4K. They look more like the indie games they inspired than they resemble most of their contemporaries. Even GOATs like Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie suffer from blurry unidentifiable textures and muddy, dark, and shadowy textures, respectively. Update Spyro's controls just a smidge, give it 4K resolution and unlocked FPS, and you're good to go.
