A Satire on How Simple Games Really Are

What I appreciate most about this game is its store description. The developer described the gameplay in an more interesting that game itself but also very honest way. The game is exactly what the description says it is. You enter the room, you attack, or you run away. Unfortunately, the gameplay quickly becomes repetitive. The game mechanics and weapon properties aren’t very clear – unless they really are as simple as they seem at first glance. It’s clear that the game was made with a sense of humor and doesn’t take itself too seriously. The description perfectly captures the whole experience: you jump in, fight, grab some loot, and move on. Three stars for self-awareness and a good attitude. The gameplay itself is rather dull – let’s just say I didn’t even beat the average playtime of other players, which is only about 24 minutes…

Better roguelikes out there.

Game is a little unpolished and the UI is clanky, which does affect the overall experience. Before starting a run, you can't go back to the main menu screen and exit the game safely, so I have to close the program by tabbing to the desktop which crashes the game. The first main objective is an insane task in itself: Collect 55 brooms; and you need to complete 5 objectives to unlock a second playable class. The game doesn't really explain what the attributes do, particularly in regards to luck, so you kinda just choose upgrades with little direction and hope they help you survive. There is also minimal description for the items you pick up or the damage of each weapon, so you must resort to trial and error to discover the weapon hierarchy. The codex is also poorly optimised, and objects you discover are sorted with no rhyme or reason, while also not telling you anything more about the object than what you did learn when first encountering it. That being said, it is a fun little roguelike that doesn't require much time to play and is a good way to kill 20mins here and there. I find myself playing it on my down-time, even though I don't seem to be really progressing much through the game. I do wish you received a little more from each playthrough than the possibility of getting a survival backpack from completing quests, I thought that successfully completing quests would count towards unlocking a new class, but that would be far too easy for this game, its seems. TLDR; there are better roguelikes out there, this one is clanky and unpolished and doesn't really do anything unique, I only play it because it was free and it doesn't require too much time for each playthrough.

Unrewarding

As a lover of simple games, I did 3 runs, and got up to level 5 but found every minute too simplified which led to an unfulfilling experience. Could definitely be made better where every so often, there's a room you enter that requires a certain item to unlock it's full benefit - and those items are found in certain special situations BUT CARRY OVER those special items for all future runs. Like a luck-based, subtle multi-run find-what-you-can instead of a full reset every run. Leaves it feeling ultimately very unfulfilling. (And why do the shops not tell you what the items are to buy when you click on them? I want to know what I'm buying before I do...)

Pretty good buuut...

The game has a fun loot and fighting mechanic but it keeps crashing after 10 minutes
