This is one of the first and few PC games I bought during its release, with box, manual and so on. I really like the mix of fantasy and modern and the game is really well done and enjoyable. You need to manage well the units in the battlefield and keep some others ready to protect your conquered areas in case the enemy make its move and attacks you while you are on the front elsewhere. Balancing money to buy and research is another winning point of this game, that mixing with the before mentioned issue of enemy attacking you, makes the game particular intriguing and challenging. Fortifying units and morale are a great balance in this game that pushes you to take action if your units are playing too much defensively, but on the other hand you have the option to lure the enemy on a fortified position. Each time you have to consider the best action to take. The game is turn based and that allows plenty of time for study the map and develop a strategy, especially in those missions were your resources are limited due to the carried over casualties of the previous one. I am so inspired by this game, that I have on my to-do list the creation of a new game that takes the best part of Spellcross and mix them with some of my ideas that I am eager to bring to live soon. After living 10 years in Australia, I went back to Italy for a couple of weeks, I wanted to play the game, but I couldn't run it on my new computer. Now 3 years more are passed while I moved to Japan. Time is running and still I can't play this not well known gem. I hope GOG will release a new version that I can play again without hassle. This game also need some more recognition from players!

The sounds and unit calls from this game became memes in our family for decades. And the manual is still on my shelf as a great read by itself. I consider the general premise and idea of the world as fun even after all these years.

Instant buy. Just take my money and bring it here, please 💰🙏 A gripping story, units that level up and carry over from mission to mission, and a research system that enhances your chances of victory—this game has so many pros. Personally, it’s one of the best turn-based strategy games I’ve ever played ‼️ Absolutely zero boring missions! The mission objectives are one of the most captivating aspects of the game. The screenwriters really went above and beyond—120% effort! This is what makes this strategy game stand out among all others. I absolutely loved the apocalyptic sci-fi/fantasy setting, commanding human soldiers against orcs, mages, ghosts, and other supernatural foes. If I had to choose only five games to play for the rest of my life, this one would easily make the list 😎 I know the chances of it appearing on GOG.com are slim, but if you can make it happen, it would feel like Christmas, my birthday, and Valentine’s Day all rolled into one! 🥳🥳🥳

Miałem i wciąż posiadam oryginalną wersje tej gry. Zagrywałem się w nią godzinami. Bardzo dobra turówka. Jak dla mnie klasyk... Szkoda, że wciąż nie jest doceniona przez innych graczy....

This game is real epic story of magic on earth. The intro in Czech version is so epic it's unbeatable. Game itself have strong story or last efforts of earth defense where only the strongest and most frightening soldiers are. They march to stop the terrifying enemy. And after hundreds of lost battles one is already won! Prepare for huge battles with need of tactical thinking. First battle takes few minutes. Battles in endgame takes one or even two hours. To the arms!

It came out of nowhere... Apocalyptic Sci-Fi TBS of my hearth. There was once a great PC/ Gaming expo in Brno. It was only a coincidence, that I bought there one of last issues of the Excalibur mag. Spellcross was the game supplement of this once great magazine. The dense atmosphere caught me in from the first moment. The game is probably not THE best TBS from a point of AI. You can master it quite easily and than it is not much of a challenge anymore, but the atmosphere builds up wery nicely and you can always choose to play the game in a hard mode. This can be easily done by going as fast as you can or choosing some funny research branch. The research is actually one of the greatest design. There you basically do not know, what you'll end up with (new armed unit/ better weapon system or something totally out of your mind). There is either a great build in wiki, where you can find a lot of lore and in game art (more close up). The overall graphics was good for the time, IMHO enough for anytime TBS. The soundtrack always makes me shiver. It really fits into the overall atmosphere. Spellcross stands for me on the top of my list.

One of the best tour stategies I ever played. It has aged quite well. Worth renewing. I actually play this game but running requires DOSBOX and some technical spells including CD mounting and editing some config files. Not very ease at all.

I was a teenager like so many others. There was no tutorial, no explanations - no nothing as was common back in those days. A friend of mine gave me a quick rundown (it really isnt obvious from the start) and suddenly I was transported into this amazing world - a world where modern era world is invaded by magical beasts. Tanks against Golems, infantry against orcs, Dragons against AA - all that on top on an actually well thought out story. You will hear about refugees vanishing, segregation of people with magical talents and many many other tiny tidbits that create the amazing world of Spellcross. And the ending ? oh .. Chefs Kiss. 10/10 for realism

Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy VIIIFinal Fantasy VIII is the eighth main installment in the Final Fantasy series. The gameplay makes a departure from many series standards. While it still uses the Active Time Battle system, it deviates from the series' traditional means of boosting a character's power via leveling, although levels are not completely abandoned as they were in Final Fantasy II. In addition, it does not have a Magic Point-based system for spell-casting. Instead, magic is collected, drawn, and created from items, and is used to power up the characters via the junction system.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
Metal Gear Solid HD CollectionFrom the critically acclaimed director, Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection offers a handful of the most popular Metal Gear Solid titles from the past in true HD for the first time ever. Featuring three complete games, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the HD Collection offers old and new fans a chance to experience the epic game play, design and storytelling of the MGS franchise. The "Metal Gear Solid (MGS)" series is the seminal work of Hideo Kojima, Japan's master game creator, and the progenitor of the stealth action game genre. The series has become a global phenomenon, with over 27 million copies sold worldwide. The player controls a secret agent from an elite special forces unit who is sent on solo sneaking missions through enemy installations, vast jungles, and sometimes even the thick of battle. Alone and surrounded by the enemy, even a special forces agent will find it tough to come out alive. But that is the secret behind the series' popularity-the cerebral challenge of figuring out how to avoid combat, and the thrill of sneaking through enemy territory undetected. The MGS series is also known for its storyline, which blends seamlessly with the gameplay. The scenarios are based on extensive research and incorporate the drama of actual developments in society. These elements have made MGS what it is today: a mature work of entertainment that transcends national borders and the confines of video games, and one of the leading products of the Japanese content business.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the PatriotsMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the final canonical Metal Gear game to feature Solid Snake as the main character. The gameplay of the previous games have been kept along with some new features, such as the ability to roll on your back and also to hide in bins scattered around the environment. Most of the story and the relationship between the characters are explained through cut-scenes with a considerable length, so knowledge of the prior games is recommended to fully understand the story. The game also features a complex multiplayer mode entitled Metal Gear Online with some original missions based on the stealth aspects of the single-player games.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake EaterMetal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is the follow up to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. It is the first prequel in the series, taking the series to the year 1964. The player takes the role as the series' original antagonist, Big Boss, then known as Naked Snake. MGS3 is the first game in the series to take place in a jungle. This unique setting created an opportunity for new mechanics. The player can adapt to the environment by swapping Snake's camouflage, hunt animals and gather plants for food. This iteration in the series introduced a new feature in which the player must apply medicine and perform medical procedures on Snake if he is damaged in combat. Apart from the survival themed features, the controls and gameplay of the game are very similar to Metal Gear Solid 2. Like other Metal Gear games, the focus is on stealth, but the player can go through the entire game like a shooter if they choose to. Throughout the game Snake acquires weapons of all types; non-lethal firearms, handguns, sniper rifles, machine guns, shotguns, sub-machine guns, and explosives. Metal Gear Solid 3 was the first game to implement the CQC (close quarters combat) system. CQC allowed Snake to beat enemies down to knock them out, or put them in a chokehold to knock them out, kill them, or and/or question them. Metal Gear Solid 3's health system required the player to occasionally pause the game and treat Snake's ailments. When Snake is shot, there is a chance that the bullet didn't pass through him, requiring the player to use a knife to remove the bullet, apply disinfectant, apply styptic and bandage the wound. This was done through a submenu in the pause screen. Other ailments the player must treat Snake for include: leeches, broken bones, burns, cut, arrow/bolts/needles, stomach sickness, colds, and food/venom poisoning. Adding to the survival elements of the game, Snake Eater lives up to its name by requiring the player to scavenge food for Snake. Under the life bar there is stamina bar. If Snake does not eat any food the bar depletes, causing various effects. When the stamina bar is low, the player's ability to aim is severely handicapped, Snake's hands will shake in the first person aiming mode. Just like real life, Snake's stomach can also rumble, enemy soldiers can hear this, and will be alerted to Snake's presence.

Wolfenstein RPG
Wolfenstein RPGWolfenstein RPG is a first-person shooter and role-playing video game developed by id Software and Fountainhead Entertainment, released in September 2008 for mobile phones and in May 2009 for iOS. In 2013 the game was removed from App Store. The gameplay follows the recipe from Doom RPG as it is shown in the first person while being a turn-based role-playing game rather than a shooter and puts emphasis on the plot. Combat and movement are turn-based, allowing the player time to select their responses in combat. The player turns at 90 degree angles and moves space by space. One step or action by the player allows all other characters in the area to take one step or action themselves. The game takes advantage of its deliberately slow pace, encouraging players to take their time and check out every little corner, read the books on every bookshelf, and destroy all the furniture to see if anything is hidden within. Levels include underground passages and weapon development laboratories plus a level involving a moving vehicle. The game also includes two mini games: the card game War as well as Chicken Kicking, where the player is awarded points for kicking a chicken into a score area.
