Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy (2004)

by Midway Games, Capcom, Zoo Digital
Genres:Shooter
Themes:Action, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player, Co-operative, Multiplayer
Story:Psi-Ops is an action game with a twist: no longer do you have to rely solely on big weapons and explosions to progress through it - you also have the aid of psychic powers to take down army after army of enemy soldiers. In the game you take the role of Nick Scryer, a secret agent who had his face reconstructed and mind wiped clean in order to infiltrate a growing psychic organization calling itself The Movement. Nick, however, is captured, but manages to free himself and continue his mission to stop The Movement, regaining his psychic abilities along the way. The game mixes regular weapons with the weapons of the mind. You'll have access to a series of mind powers, such as Telekinesis (the ability to fling object and soldiers around), Pyrokineses (the ability to set things on fire), Mind Drain (for draining Psi power out of foes' minds) and Remote Viewing (leaving your body behind and exploring the level).Show more

The original PC release has an issue with DRM starforce which causes it to boot on some modern PCs, but not others. Also if this did work, the FMVs are broken on newer PCs as well. This game needs a new modern audience. It shouldn't be left in obscurity. It's considered a hidden gem for 6th gen consoles. This game needs to be brought back into the light.

This game was a diamond in the rough, never given a fair shake against some other AAA titles of it's time. It had a cheesy, yet interesting enough story, and a physics engine that made the combat and platforming feel great all the way through. Its a shame it never got a sequel to tie up the cliffhanger this game ended on. Would love to see a GOG release fixing many of the problems that currently make this game so unenjoyable on pc!

No other game really plays with super powers quite like this one did. Geist on the Gamecube tried and it didn't come even close. Nothing will ever beat that feeling of picking up a dude with TK and using him as a shield then throwing him to his friends. Fun times.
One of the first games I remember being able to play with ragdoll physics, I used to spend hours mucking around in the training simulator stacking explosive barrels and playing with the telekinesis!

Negative memory os DRM starforce which no longer allow to start the game Positive memory: Physics that no longer exists in modern games. Cliffhanger at the end of the game.
This game is incredible in terms of gameplay and ability. It's crazy that it has not received a remaster or anything. It would be awesome to see the game receive support and appear on GOG!

This game is unbelievably fun, and has been on my top 5 all-time for a long time. An action game centred purely on the joy of chaos. You are a soldier with psychic abilities, in a fairly run-of-the-mill story, but when you get your hands on the controller, you realise how little that matters. Where other games that attempted to introduce 'powers' tend to have you switch or select, this one made real effort to ensure all of your abilities were on separate buttons, to ensure you can use them in combination to hilarious effect. Sure, you will have great fun picking up boxes or barrels or soldiers and whomping them against walls and ceilings, better still picking them up, setting them on fire, THEN throwing them like a screaming molotov. Or better yet, pick someone up, shoot them a bit, then fling them up into the sky like a haemorraging firework. This game is just pure joy, and I pray for the day I can play it again easily.

Still unmatched as the game with the best telekinesis powers ever. Plus a great story, great characters and levels. Don't take my word for it though, go play it now that is abandonware then buy it if it eventually releases here so we finally get a sequel, maybe, hopefully
Used to love this game when I was a kid, so many memories of floating on a cube! Honestly the mechanics were so ahead of its time and I still haven't found a game that scratches the itch this one left. NEEDS A SEQUEL/REMAKE

I remember having this game on console. Great fun and nothing else like it. Please bring this back. This is up there with Prey for me. I will pay a premium for it.
Those games also need your vote!

FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
