I've followed this game's development for years. Yacht Club Games captured my heart over a decade ago with Shovel Knight, that game was brimming with a special kind of magic. In many ways, it influenced the way indie games were perceived by the mass market and cemented an aesthetic and purpose for the indie scene. Retro gamers rejoice, developers like Yacht Club are here to provide new (retro) games!
Mina the Hollower looks poised to do for Zelda (Retro top-down ARPGs) what Shovel Knight did for Ducktales (Retro side-scrolling platformers). Yacht Club Games is great at taking a look at what worked in the past, what could be ironed out, all while crafting an aesthetic that's equal parts familiar and unique. Mina the Hollower looks so cool--as did Shovel Knight--and its gameplay is tantalizing.
Mina the Hollower is perfect for GOG, I just hope it arrives here. There are a lot of indie games that skip the store, or schedule their release well after other a launch on other marketplaces. That's all well and good, I don't mind the wait, but I'll be devastated if it never releases on GOG. Shovel Knight is on GOG, it's preserved and beautifully modern-retro (which is GOG's whole thing!) so let's give Mina the Hollower the same treatment.
Please, Yacht Club Games!
