This game is one of a kind. No other game has gameplay like this. Its basically a hybrid between a fighting and rts game. It has infinite replayability. I played it regularly back when I ran windows, but after switching to Linux the install disc no longer works. I still miss this game and wish I could still play it. I don't get this game's lack of popularity. The main complaint I've seen is that its 'too unconventional'! What's wrong with being original? Some people even recently made a 4k retexture for all this game's assets. Its beatiful.
I must admit though, that game isn't without its faults. Each color only has 14 cards to pick from, but you need 10 to make a deck! This means that mono color decks all end up practically the same. Its better if you run dual colors, but still. Also, the game is a product of its time, and not just because of the old cards it features. Pretty much every female character model is wearing something super revealing, which some people may find off-putting by today's standards. The early 2000s were a different time. Also, the campaign story is lame, but in an arcade-style game, who really cares about the story? Its also lame that the expansion was never made available for PC, simply because the player base was never as big as the xbox version.
This game's gameplay is still one of a kind, and nothing has ever come along that replaces it. Its timeless and fun. I wish I could still play this thing. I'm normally loath to re-buy games over and over, but for this I would 100% make an exception.
