I'll start with the pitch to the investors, since I know that, while passion keeps projects like these alive, money is what lets them accomplish anything: GOG could charge $200 USD for this game, and it would still make GOG the most affordable option. Just the price for the only the loose disc, no case or manual, hovers around $250 - $300, even spiking as high as $450 back in 2022. The complete game runs from $400 - $600, though that's a price aimed more at collectors than those who just want to enjoy the game, so not your main market.
As to why people are repeatedly willing to pay $200 - $600 for a niche Gamecube game? That's because this game has it all. Gotcha Force has a roster of over 200 'borgs', all of whom have distinct abilities and moves, balanced with a point-buy mechanic when building your team. You can pit your team of two dragons against your friends with their respective teams of 30 basic ninjas, and 9 assorted tanks. You can build a full team of magical girls, a squadron of planes, a platoon of knights, an army of robots, or mix-and-match as you please.
The gameplay is like a 3d platforming fighter crossed with Pokemon and Warhammer, while the aesthetic is reminiscent of Custom Robo, in that you battle with action-figure-sized borgs, and the sheer depth of customization is second to none. Wrap all of this up in a charming anime aesthetic with voice acting on the level of 'so-bad-it's-good' that others wish they could emulate.
I loved playing this game with friends in high school, played through the story mode a half-dozen times by myself back in uni, and I want more people to be able to experience this marvel of a game. Unlike a lot of others on the dreamlist, the issue here isn't some weird issue making the game unplayable on modern hardware - it's simply an issue of accessibility, and there not being enough physical copies out there for everyone. GOG could fix that. GOG could let the Gotcha Borg Corps of Justice rise up in the name of justice!
