To be honest, I don't have a lot of memories of this game. It's mostly vaguely familiar.
I got a copy of it as part of a Sam's Club 7 CD game bundle back in '95 or something. I absolutely loved the Doom shareware and Wizardry 7: Crusaders of the Dark Savant, I couldn't remember the name of this game and recently remembered it existed. I still own this actually, all of those CDs should be in storage somewhere in my garage--not that I have a CD drive anymore or Windows 11 being able to make heads or tails out of caveman video games.
CRIME CITY, with revolver and a dark city skyline, which actually takes place in a quiant English village. The setting is Hot Fuzz, not Dirty Harry.
I remember the graphics being charming and the game seeming to have a lot of depth. I think the puzzles were pretty logical rather than falling into the Lucas Arts/Sierra mindset of "carry a pie to throw at a yeti" or "tape cat fur under your nose to make a fake mustache". It was neat that your funds and time were limited, you can walk basically everywhere if you don't mind sacrificing an hour or two, but you can't afford to taxi across town constantly.
Actually the two things I remember most was not understanding, despite being a Monty Python fan, that the game was set in England. I got some clue and ran it to the chemist thinking they would analyize it, not argue about prescriptions. Wasn't sure why the local priest was called a vicar. Really should have recognized those terms, but for some reason I didn't.
All games should be preserved, I'd like to take another crack at this as well.
