Don't bother
The devs stopped supporting their game on GOG. Previously, GOG version was receiving the patches with a month of delay since their launch on Steam. Then the updates stopped entirely. GOG version is v1.11.1.5 while Steam version continue receiving further updates: 1.11.6.2(Mar 16) and then 1.11.7.11(May 12).

A shotdown of epic proportions
This is one of the most (if not THE most) satisfying top-down / twin-stick shooter I have played to date. At the start of the run you are offered 2 of four weapon types - a musket, a shotgun, a pistol and a revolver. Each weapon has its quirks and downtime, which you need to keep track of, lest you run dry in most unfavourable circumstances. As you play, you are offered more and more weapons and consumables to pick from. The map consists of rooms, the net of which is generated at random. Some rooms are dark, meaning you need to light the lanterns, or you won't be able to lock on your oponents. This has the added bonus of stunning enemies temporarily, but sometimes you just won't be able to get to one before being killed back to where you came from by a good variety of angry inhabitants. Here is where the cover comes in use - it absorbs all of the damage (unless AoE) but won't last you forever. Once its gone, you are again in the open, so you need to jump to another, if you still haven't outgunned the inhabitants of the room. Weapons also have their downtimes significantly reduced behind cover, so generally cover is a good thing to watch out for. Now, the game is made with a controlelr in mind, and it shows. You are led to believe you aim with the mouse, which isn't exactly true. You point your gun with your mouse. There is a hard lock on an enemy, which is actually where you aim. I haven't seen a way to switch to another target other than disengage a drastic amount of distance or plain killing the stuff. However the game can lock on a sniper in an opposite corner, while from the dark come 3 dogs, so unless you manage to get distanced enough, or the dogs go straigt into your line of fire, you are going to get chomped back to the beginning. Consumables (like explosives) might help, but they are still thrown towards the target locked on to. Generally, it's a very good and solid game. Has its problems, but is well worth getting over those.

Overcomes its flaws.
I enjoyed it more than I expected. A fun roguelike. Pros: - cool combat and gameplay loop; - unique visual style; - you can finish the game with minimal unlocks if you're good enough. Cons: - fucking horrible tutorials and very little info available online; - a bit buggy; - the more unlocks you're forced to get, the more you're forced to play with gear you don't like; - almost non-existant story for almost the entire game; - pretty lazy PC port; - can't remap controller keys, can't dodge and aim at the same time because you aim with right stick and dodge with A, and the dodge window is very small; - and probably others that don't cross my mind right now. Somehow, though, despite all of its flaws, it was still very fun for me. The combat and gameply loop are just that good.

Twinstick shooter with great aesthetics
First off: I'm a twinstick fan. Binding of Isaac, Helldivers, SmashTV, and Nuclear Throne are a few of my favorites. I've got a couple hundred hours between just those listed, so when I tell you this has some excellent gameplay, believe it. Each run you're given two random level one weapons. The weapons are randomly chosen from four types: pistols (no aim time, medium damage, slow reload), revolvers (no aim time, low damage, fast reload), shotguns (low range, no aim time, high damage, medium reload), and muskets (aim time, med-high damage, medium reload). These are generalizations, but you get the idea. Pick 'em up, run in, start shooting bad guys. Throughout the game you can also pick up extra abilities ranging from a throwing axe, to a mirror that switches places with enemies. Charms give you extra passive abilites. Faster reload, regain health when you take cover, or even up the money dropped when you kill an enemy. The shrines scattered around maps upgrade your ability damage and recharge times, your gun damage, or your health and melee damage. The biggest difference between this game and other twinsticks I've played is how lighting plays into fights. Rooms are randomly generated (including enemy type and count). Part of this random generation includes the lighting; whether the lanterns hanging from the ceiling are ignited or not. You can see (and lock onto) enemies in the light, but not enemies in the dark. Any lanterns that aren't lit you can ignite yourself, and enemies caught in the light get stunned for a short amount of time. Now the bad: This game has some bugs. The most common one I've found? Your UI can disappear randomly, and the only way to get it back is to quit your run and reload. You can't leave a map without your UI. I have had this happen at least once every time I play. Any game will have some bugs though, and the gameplay and mechnics are fun. So I get up, dust off, and start a new run. If you like twinstick shooters, give this a buy.
