Perfect!

I love this game... it's just the kind of game I needed to play at the moment. Unlike some recent games in the genre, it seems (so far) very site specific .. whilst other games have you to'ing and fro'ing from a myriad of locations to perform various tasks (which I now find tedious and just a boring chore) ... Tower of Time is more focussed on crafting the most effective team of adventurors, and progressing through levels of (you guessed it) .. a magical Tower! It is therefore more combat and skill based (but with still an engaging backstory and sometimes gorgeous and interesting locations) Do yourself a favour and play on hard setting - too easy otherwise, and SOOO satisfying when you find the right combination of weapons, skills and spells to take down a monsterous elite boss!

Not a bad game, but not my type

Let me say that the type of this game is not one I really prefer in an RPG, so that will colour my review. In the end I did have a fair bit of enjoyment from it, but I got tired of it during my second playthrough, while e.g. Divinity O.S. 2 I played 7 times through. Then again it is a lot cheaper than a full F-RPG, so that compensates. pros: - stable (as long as you don't have the 64-bit version of Nikon ViewNX2 installed) - balanced choices for characters and equipment - pretty good story, although with some gaps - equipment variation and customisation - good variation between levels cons: - no relevant story choices - very linear maps - no free exploration - non-rotating isometric view - no 'highlight interactibles' option - combat is more about not making mistakes than e.g. brilliant combo's

Unity Analytics Beware

The game devs likely dont know, but Unity installs telemetry that cannot be removed, I believe still that I must warn people about this as they may be wary of telemetry and other forms of spyware.

Such a strange game

I have not yet completed the game but I have played for several hours at this point. And to be honest it is a strange experience. The structure of the game, specifically the artwork, settings, etc. They are all very nice and when playing with ultra settings, it is very beautiful. The user interface is fine but it takes a little getting used to but that is fine. The voice acting was also fine. It will not win any awards but it also wasn't terrible. Story-wise it seems to be very interesting thus far. I am honestly invested in and almost excited to uncover the entire story. At the very least it isn't a cookie cutter story like so many games these days. The crafting and enhancements are fine. Again, no rewards here but also not terrible. One area that I am not very fond of is the very linear maps. This seems to be a more and more common trend with games these days. I have some theories as to why this is becoming more and more common, but if you get lost in games then do not worry. You cannot get lost on a one-way street. I read comments from other reviewers that claim the game is not very fun. I suppose it depends on what you want to see in a game. For RPG games my first requirement is the story and then from there it depends on the supporting elements. As noted above, I enjoy the story a lot so I find the game enjoyable enough. The game feels like it is trying to be a little bit of everything. And while it doesn't do a terrible job at anything, it also does not really shine at anything. That being said, a great deal of care and attention have gone into the visuals and story. The combat is serviceable, but again, while not terrible it is also not great. If you enjoy games for the story that they can tell, you should get this game at full price. If you are more focused on anything else, then I would recommend you get the game on a sale. Again, it is not a bad game, there is entertainment to be had here. It just depends on what kind of entertainment you want.

Could you some bug tuning

The story is reasonable. There are plot holes (why isn't everything upside down if the tower is upside down?). Replayability feels moderate only. Interesting (not pro nor con to me): * Gold as a level up factor instead of experience * Alignment system where your choices make characters more or less effective * The crafting system, which encourages different types of gear Pros: * Tactical mode combat which makes the game not a reaction speed button masher, but one where you can plan your move. Cons: * There are some AI pathing bugs where the hero refuses to go where I want in exploration. * Similarly, in combat, I've seen cases where characters get stuck rapidly shifting around, trying to decide who to attack, while their foes casually walk up to destroy them. * No dialog history. Multiple times, I clicked next only to realize I missed something * I at times want a speed between "normal" and the tactical speed. * No matter how much gold you think you have, you need more, since your party is four players in combat, sometimes, you want to switch up to deal with a particular foe, only to realize you haven't the gold to keep them levelled up enough. I ended up picking two characters as my "never level up" characters just to save gold for the ones who needed it. * Speaking of gold, the challenges are the only sane way to get enough gold so that you aren't facing foes far more powerful than you (this on normal) * Speaking of gear, why can't we change weapons during combat to accommodate different foes?
