Tomb Raider GOTY

Tomb Raider 2013 is very different compared to the first 3 games in the series. This game took an action game route instead of a puzzle platformer. It still has puzzle platforming but I would say combat and action scenes had more of an emphasis. It has great action elements, great puzzles and a decent story. Also in this game Lara really goes through it and the death scenes are really something. Its native to Linux so it ran okay but I did experience some glitches, nothing game breaking though. Likes: gameplay graphics sound design / music Dislikes: glitches Rating: 7/10 Recommend: Yes, Its fun although its has a bit of hand holding.

The story starts pretty good but keeps getting more fantastical (12 - 15h to beat the story, btw). Good overall mechanics, reactive enemies, etc, you can be stealthy or going head on, both with their risks. I really loved the weapons progression system, the abilities not that much. All in all a good game but not a masterpiece.

I got into the game a little late, but now I've finally started playing it. What can I say, I was never very fond of the Tomb Raider games. The first installment was a breath of fresh air at the time, and I played it for a few hours, but that was it. Now, however, with Tomb Raider from 2013, I get to learn about the origins of Lara Croft and experience how she became the adventurer we got to know in the 90s. I really like this game. The zones are very exciting and interestingly designed, the atmosphere is dense and gripping, and the game is always very exciting. It's hard to stop playing; you have to force yourself to quit at the next campsite so you can continue playing another time. So I like it very much. What I don't like at all, however, is the camera wobble effect that you always get when Lara moves. I felt nauseous after a few minutes and had to stop on my first attempt. Fortunately, there is a patch/mod that turns off the wobble effect so that you can play the game properly.

Smooth and variuous, much fun !

Seriously, not EVERY mechanic in a game need be activated by key-mashing. The quality of life in a first-person game is in direct INVERSE proportion to the number of nonsensical key-mash sequences where a tenth of a second timing error five or six keys in means instant death. The pervasive stupid key-mashing is the ABSOLUTE WORST thing about this game. (You'll notice they turned it down a lot in the later Tomb Raider games.) I'm only up to retrieving the pack from the wolf den in the cave, and I'm already heartily sick of key-mashing and on the edge of abandoning the game because of it. By contrast, one of the BEST things about Elder Scrolls games is that THEY DON'T HAVE ANY.
