I wanted to enjoy it but in the just a very overrated game
Before I start I will say this, I have been playing RPG's since the days of Wizardry, The Bard's Tale, and Ultima - I tried my hardest to want to like this game as a PC exclusive and as an RPG but honestly it just ended up feeling like an empty experience. Gameplay wise it feels like a lot of quests and objectives were quickly taken from some MMO's with a lot of fetch and retrieval, kill X to get Y, collect this many items. Combat is also rather slow and tedious and could have used a lot of streamlining, it also felt rather odd to switch from sword a to sword b giving combat little diversity and battle stances just seemed pointless other than to make combat last longer than it should have. The user interface and menues were also rather poor and can actually be quite overwhelming to first time players requiring a good sit down to make sure what is what and where, rather messy and disjointed overall and many times you can find yourself here more than in the actual game. Characters...... this may just be me but they just felt flat, most talking like they had a sore throat and showing nothing that makes them likable aside from one or two farther into the game (Honestly the main character has one of the most annoying voices in gaming and just gets on your nerves more than anything) My main complaint though is more of a moral issue. For the most part women in this game seem to be there for nothing more than a sex card collection game (frankly I'm betting this is why the game sold well) this is just poor taste and shows women in a very negative light. If you have a relation with the character that would eventually lead to something much later in the game that is fine since there is a build but here you can pretty much go up to a women no matter the personality and have her horizontal in no time. the fact that the Witcher 2 is doing things with Playboy just supports this view. Honestly I really did want to like this game I gave it a very long and multiple tries, the fact I never tried to return it shows my effort but it just falls flat the majority of the time. I have no doubts the sequel will sell well but since most Witcher 2 posts I visit just go straight to the sex and talk nothing of the gameplay it is obvious why it will sell well.
Hilft dir das weiter?
