The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

One of the best games i hyave played, second only to witcher 2

I got it for really good price from gog.com since the game was a big 'hit'. But after forcing my self to playing for many hours I think: - Combat is absolutely BORING. It has no depth, no strategy while being somewhat more difficult to manage then normal hack&slash which have the same depth of strategy. I mean if it is shallow why try to make it look sophisticated by adding stances etc... Again it is BORING - The world and everything looks good but the voice acting and whole story do not pull you in and it is ALSO BORING. The world is not introducing itself and it takes a lot of time for you to get into it and when you do you realise it is not interesting at all... I don't know... This game had many good reviews but looks like it is not for me. So if you feel BORED for the first couple of hours... Stop trying and quit.

Dieser erste Teil - The Witcher - ist einzigartig. Nicht pefekt, aber einzigartig. Gründe: The Witcher 1 erzählt in einer sehr ruhigen Geschwindigkeit die Story. Alle Aktionen, die man vornimmt, um in der Geschichte voranzuschreiten, gehen ineinander ebenso ruhig über. Die Welt ist viel kleiner, als man dies heutzutage gewohnt ist. Mit diesem gedanklichen Rückblick ist das spielen m. E. dichter und hat eine viel größere Immersion, als die "open world"-Exteriors neumoderner "Rollenspiele". Das gesamte Grundgerüst, die Art, wie das Leben (Städte, Landschaft, Bürger, Vertonung, die kurzen, schroffen Dialogantworten) wirken viel "rauer", wie erwachsender, als es in "The Wichter 2" oder gar in "The Witcher 3" der Fall ist. Teil 2 und 3 sind eben viel mehr "cineatischer". Genau das möchte ich in einem PC-Spiel einfach nicht mehr sehen. Ich will spielen - keinen "Film" gucken. Vermutlich liegt es einfach daran, dass der nostalgische Faktor dieses Gefühl im Gesamten bewirkt, wenn man Teil 1 spielt... Schlussendlich vermisse ich genau solch ein Rollenspiel heutzutage. Nehmen wir mal als Vergleich ein Spiel, das fast alle lieben: "Eldenring". *hust...* Dieses Spiel nervt mich absolut. Grund: Ständiges rumgelaufte; Sachen sammeln. Langweilg. Und die Steuerung zu Pferd ist eine Vollkatastrophe! Das immerzu lästige Rumgerenne im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes nervt abartig schlimm. Ich schrieb das als Vergleich, weil ein Rollenspiel heutzutage viel zu bunt ist, viel zu verspielt, viel zu unrealistisch in seiner Aufmachung - ganz gleich, ob es "Fantasy" ist oder nicht. In The Witcher 1 ist die Fantasie so umgesetzt, dass sie "erwachsen" wirkt. Beispiel: Alleine die Einfachheit der Steuerung, alleine die düstere Grafik, das düstere Setting, das tolle Hintergrundbild des Ladebildschirms mit der Natur... Und das ist es, was ich so sehr vermisse heutzutage...

I bought this game because I've heard good things about the Witcher franchise and I wanted to play them in sequence to see if it'd be to my liking. Well, IT WAS. Ehem... The graphics are obviously dated but not to the extent of being an eyesore or distracting; seems like around the 15 year mark game visuals are just too abstract for my liking but that's me personally. Combat is simple, but not so simple that it'll put you to sleep. It's mainly about click timing and style changes, but you do still have to be mindful of position/movement, target selection and when, where and how to use your signs and alchemy. That is unless you're playing on easy, in which case nighty night! The main character is pretty neat, Geralt is basically whatever you make him. Some people are cringy edgelords so as thus so too will Geralt be. I personally found him to be a well meaning if not slightly passive aggressive guy just trying to make a living. There is the potential for optional sex cutscenes called 'romance cards' but unless you're struggling with sex addiction even worse than I am, you should only expect to see one. Maybe two. If at any point in time you want to see Shani's grandma naked, call your sponsor and/or therapist immediately! The story is really interesting in my opinion because you can take the middle road or pick a side. For instance there's some freaking cannibal living in the swamps who doesn't want you to kill him because he doesn't eat children. Well, if you're a fedora tipping centrist then by all means let him live. I for one don't think the cannibal and the cannibalized are the same! In the end the story leads you to beat down this idiot named Azar Javed who is basically the biggest 3brain of all time. Have fun! My gripes with this game are that the Beast boss is way, way too hard for a low level boss, and I admit I used cheese strats to beat it. The other is that the Kikimore Queen boss is kind of buggy. But yeah, the game is good and you should play it!

Well. where should I start. I played TW1 when I was 15 years old(yeah I played it on a PS3 slim) I didn't that this IP was mainly a Book saga but i fell in love with the fantasy slavic world, The level design, the graphics, the gameplay mechanics and the story as well. I claimed it when it was free months ago but I will replay it when i have the time to do that. btw i also didn't know that GOG.com has actually a rate/review system but that's kinda cool to know hehe.
