The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

This enhanced edition can often be found at 50-85% off during sales. I paid £1.19 for it from GOG, thats less than a dollar! Just look at all the goodies you get. EVERYTHING game related, maps, soundtracks, interviews, calenders, stories, behind the scenes etc etc.. I mean...come on.

It's definitely a really underrated game that deserved more fame, the menu and interface are very easily operable, easy to understand, the dialogue is also well formed, information rich and neatly packed - easy to keep track and understand the knowledge and story of the game, it's impossible to be confused and not figure out what's going on. While some people dislike the battle system, I thoroughly enjoy it, simply timing your clicks to maximize your damage is a really chill experience, in the mean time I can enjoy the sword animations even while laying on the sofa, instead of being busy button mashing my keyboard and mouse and rolling around. The inventory is a classic RPG inventory and easy to sort through (unlike in The Witcher 2 where I have to read a full list of things every time I open it). The story is also amazing. Only people with good taste can appreciate this masterpiece, it really left me satisfied finishing the game and I couldn't hold back playing the other games too. The art has an amazing old style, I very much enjoy to look at it, the story is deep with moral dilemmas and you really feel immersed, you feel like you became part of that world, the story telling is really good, as well as some silly random events in the game to lighten up the mood. The voices of Siegfried and Zoltan are pure gold. I also very much enjoy the option to hold down the ALT key and see every object and NPC I can interact with as well as their name, it really makes it easy to orient. The option to drink alcohol and have outdrink contests is really fun. . The only negative thing about the game is accidentally locking yourself out of quests or romance cards, since the order of things you do is sometimes vague and it can make you replay a few hours because of that.

I wasn't able to play the first WITCHER game before since my first game on the series is WITCHER 2. This is a chance for me to complate the series and I'll also get THRONEBREAKER as well since GWENT is a very well made game. The latest WITCHER games are much better in graphics but the ENHANCED VERSION is a good game with some improved graphics compared to its version back then. I'm only annoyed on the AUTOSAVE feature but that's just me and it is not detrimental to the game itself.

I played Witcher 3 first and fell in love with the game, watched the Witcher series and felt I needed to play 1+2 to get the full storyline. Knowing that I wasn't going to expect Witcher 3 graphics.. I still think this game has it's charm, The Combat is really frustrating and it took me a while to understand the mechanics (Almost Rage quit lol). But if you percivere it becomes fun to time your strikes and make combos, also to switch fighting styles from fast to strong attacks, as each enemy requires a specific style to defeat them and using your steel sword for humans and beasts and silver sword for undead/other creatures. The game also lets you produce potions and oils that will benefit you, improve your weapon against certain monsters/people and give you buffs or replenish health (Chugging too many in short space of can be toxic and kill your character) The game is split into a Tutorial Chapter that teaches you the basics of combat, potion brewing and dialogue followed by 5 Chapters, each with it's own climax and decisions you make that will change the outcome of the game. The effects of your decisions aren't as great as Witcher 3's, slight alterations to the main story, there are many side quests that reward Geralt with XP, gold and other items. My critiques.. Side quests where you meet Zoltan and Dandelion for the first time SHOULDN'T BE OPTIONAL. Point it breaks storyline, Geralt died and came back with amnesia and you wouldn't think that if you miss their introduction quests? They act like nothing happened. Combat is clunky and hard to understand, even with a tutorial. They overuse NPC models, you fight the same clone henchman, talk to the same grannies, dwarves, elves etc. Way too many clones. Incredibly frustrating sidegame of dice, mostly pure randomness. Where as Gwent requires skill. Overall this RPG has it's problems, but you get past these imperfections and you have a pretty solid game The Storyline is great and i'd highly recommend! 4 Stars!

I played this game a lot, or tried to. Its especially fantastic with the full combat rebalance. The problem is the crashes. I couldn't find fixes for them, apparently they're really common. I've never made it past chapter 2 without giving up from the crashes ruining it...
