The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

First, let me say I love The Witcher series, but I love the series starting with TW2. The first Witcher game is more of a test of dedication. It begs you not to play in almost every way, but some people are just gluttons for punishment. It's overly complex where it doesn't need to be, and overly simplified in things you have to do a lot, like fighting. The voice acting is terrible, the character reactions are off, and the narrative drags in multiple spots way longer than is tolerable. I genuinely think that those who praise it are either elitist or have Stockholm Syndrome. However, without The Witcher we wouldn't have the other two wonderful games that were tailored off of the feedback from it. While I may not like it or recommend it, it was the seed that grew the greatest RPG series we are likely to ever see, and for that it deserves something. Not a playthrough, but at least a watch on YouTube.

Haven't played Witcher 3 yet but I definitely prefer Witcher over the Witcher 2. It's going to be a little difficult to get into it because of the dated graphics but boy does the game deliver on so many levels. The voice acting is out of this world good, I really like Geralt of TW1 over Geralt of TW2, the dialogue choices were also massive (probably twice as many options as the Witcher 2), a much longer story than TW2 that I enjoyed alot more. Battle is a mixed bag but once you understand how it works, it's actually quite alot of fun.

I got the Witcher for free for playing Gwent,i gotta say this game is definetly the best RPG that i have played soo far.The dark fantasy world, the characters,enemies ohh boy .Cheers to the Developers!

The development of the Witcher games was taken on by a Polish company, making the Witcher series (a completely Polish product from idea and writing through to AAA video game) one of the biggest cultural exports of modern Poland and made CD Projekt, the developer, one of the biggest companies in the country. CD Projekt have an amazing story all their own and set their stall out confidently with the first Witcher game. It’s a bold and ambitious outing for a relatively new dev company and they created an incredibly dense and fulfilling RPG that offers all of the typical levelling, skills and attributes of a good RPG coupled with some interesting new mechanics that made the game a fresh offering for RPG fans. The inclusion of noticeably different swordfighting styles and a deep and complex alchemical mechanic involving countless reagents, numerous recipes and an endless number of creations with a wide variety of effects added a depth to the game that was new to many. The primary purpose of these mechanics is to create a tangible sense of a Witcher’s profession: hunting beasts and monsters. There is a large and diverse bestiary in the Witcher and many of these creatures have very different strengths and weaknesses that can be exploited through choosing the appropriate sword style and using the correct potions, oils or bombs. In a lot of cases, this isn’t really necessary as the monsters can be relatively easily dispatched with a few good licks of a sword, but there are just as many creatures that demand more thought and planning and will require a little bit of research in your own growing bestiary glossary. I'm playing this game now for the first time. everyone said to just skip this one and go into TW3, and if I must play TW2. I bought the third one and picked up the secont one for just a few dollars and decided to at least force myself into starting in the beginning. At first, I was having a hard time with the combat and almost could not bear it enough to continue. Fast forward the combate is not as bad after you figure it out. I'm really digging this game a lot, and I am only half way through. is the game perfect? NO there are still manny things that I can not stand. Like going to meat someone at a certan spot in the game to finish a mission only to not know what time they will be there{HATE THIS PART OF THE GAME Still} . but this game has great story that is engaging, hooks you in and to think I have 2 other games to finnish that are supposed to be better.Epic. the graphics really are not that bad when you start playing. pick this game up on sale and at least get through the first act, and I think you will really start liking it. If not, on sale it goes for $1.50
