This game is a masterpiece!

This is a masterpiece! The RAT enemies are like a darker, scarier, more violent version than the enemies in vermintide. This game has great map design. the levels have rivers in them that you can fall in and get carried back to different parts of the level. Its simply genius. Within the first 5 minutes i got hit by a fireball and faceplanted to the floor in my beutiful dress as the camera switched to third person to show me my dead body. It was so epic. Serious nightmare creature vibes from that! However i REALLY wish gog gave players the option to download the game RETAIL without all of gogs adjustments, i love gog more than steam nowadays but I dont like how gog assumes people want to play ancient games in fullscreen, they look like trash that way, they just arent detailed enough to be played in fullscreen they lose their charm. Even with a proper FOV (widescreen fixes) i still believe people are doing these old games dirty by playing them in fullscreen. The moment i put them into windowed mode they come alive. Any old game you play in a window is now using windows default correct color profile and 32bit colors so a lot of these old games just look way more clear and correct in windowed mode. Check out my youtube channel randalmcdaniel i play all sorts of old games in windowed mode Fullscreen WITH black bars is also bad because it STILL stretches the image. Thats why old games never look crisp or HD in fullscreen mode with black bars. You can screenshot compare if you dont believe me. 1280x960 in fullscreen is a 12% larger game than 1280x960 in a window.. Why? I HAVE NO CLUE. Try it if you dont believe me

Flawed but Fascinating

I grew up on the Unreal games, and in recent years I became a massive fan of the Wheel of Time books. So when I learned about this weird cousin of the original Unreal, I knew I just had to take it for a spin. It's far from the best of its era, but it is still a very interesting experience to play a FPS as an Aes Sedai. Considering how clearly laid out the rules of this setting's magic are, the developers did make a few blaring concessions to better fit it into the genre. Weaves (spells) use Ter'angreal as ammunition for reasons that don't become clear until midway through the game... and even then feel a bit contrived. Seals of the Dark One's prison can only be carried one at a time, presumably in order to justify their use in Capture The Flag. But overall the plot feels like it was written with care and passion, like an imperfect piece of fanfic. Far as the gameplay goes, that too is really neat. The enemies mostly bumrush you, but throughout the story you're given dozens of varied tools to use against them, ranging from projectiles to traps to debuffs and other utilities. The game does you a huge favor in letting you hit F2 to pause and look at a detailed explanation of each one.

Best FPS

I somehow missed the release of this on gog, in my opinion this is the very best FPS ever released. Or at the very least it is the most unique one in the it is the only chess like FPS out there. There if my memory serves over 20 different spells and counter of the game most of which can be countered or used in combination sometimes for unique effect. Ex. You can target an opponent with swap places and before spell hits put him in whirlwind and now you have yourself in whirlwind and can literally fly. What is unclear from GOG release however is whether there is any support for multiplayer as that is 99% of the game, especially citadel, (it is like capture the flag except flag is not in a fixed location and you can move yours to a better protected location). I will probably get this for nostalgia reasons alone but really presence of a multiplayer is a make or break for this game. Given that only other comments date back to 2022 suggests that sadly there is no multiplayer or its dead..

Great old game

Game is very good. Like other people wrote, FPS but with spells. Atmosphere is something that really sticks out. I played on POP_OS/22.04 via Lutris no problems, everything works as should.
