Better than I expected

Love the writting and charecters, this is closest to lovecraft novels I experienced in video games. Gameplay has its lows -combat, overused same assets, not enough to do in open world city, crafting and skill points are meaningless in second half of the game - but the game loop is highly engaging - fights, detective work, exploration - I enjoyed every minut in this world and I know no other game that gave me similiar experience.

I couldn't enjoy it

Well, I had been thinking about purchasing this game and being a fan of the Sherlock Holmes series (which I got from Steam, prior to finding out about GOG) a fan of detective games, HP lovecraft and period pieces I figured I might enjoy this. I'm not saying it's bad-the graphics are nice, the atmosphere is good, the music was good; the gunplay sucks (but that isn't anything new with Frogwares games) but I just find it very boring and the navigating around the map can be annoying. From a technical standpoint: upon booting this game up, the first thing I noticed, was choppy video. I checked to see my drivers and everything was up-to-date and it was. I shut off the V-sync and the motion blur; which solved the problem. Why on Earth is motion blur even a thing? So, I'm playing it this afternoon and suddenly: it locks up midway through an animation and will not move. I can't exit out of the game, can't even bring up the task manager to force it down, so I soft-booted my pc instead. After this: I decided to apply for a refund. God bless GOG and their policy--they're far better than Steam. Is it a good game, is it a bad game? I can't honestly say. Maybe it's just me; maybe I'm getting too old for gaming

Diese Horrorgame ist der reinste Horror!

Eine Rezension ist ja eigendlich immer nur eine persönliche "Meinung", so auch diese hier: Diese Spiel ist nichts für Menschen die spielen um zu Entspannen. Das ist eher was für Menschen die sich selbst gerne quälen. Die Optik, das Genre und vor allem die Art wie das Spiel gespielt werden will lassen einen doch sehr an dem geistigen Zustand der "Macher" zweifeln. Dazu gesellt sich noch eine völlig unbrauchbare Kameraführung sowie ein kontraproduktiver Wechsel zwischen den "Hilfsmitteln" Waffe/Kamera/Medipak/Etc. Auch das Menu, hier Fallakte genannt, mit seinem Reiter "Gedankenspiele", in dem man seine Erkenntnisse reproduziert und anordnet, scheint nicht grade von intelligenten Menschen gemacht worden zu sein. Wer also nicht unbedingt sein Hirn zermatern will oder auf wirres Design steht sollte zuschlagen, die "Bestrafung" folgt auf dem Fuß! Alle anderen, Finger weg von dem Mist!

good detective thriller, although they try to make exploring interesting, the navigation/walking is weak. Should have more curated cases instad of random houses with loot and enemies
