STAR WARS™ Episode I: Racer

I was nice playing at that time. but right now this game needs a remastered edition.

Pretty much what the review title says. Never reached the start menu even once. the error message i get is an utterly bizarre: ''rdroid_gnome release build has stopped working.'' which i have never seen anything like this before and is not helpful at all to troubleshoot. other users recommend to set the resolution via the separate options program before starting, and i'm like... what separate options program? i open the game floder, there is nothing in it that ressemble an out-of-game options setup, nor any .txt file that could allow me to manually enter the resolution so where is it? is it the SWEP1RCR.EXE or the SysCheck.exe ? because both of those crash on launch everytime just like the game for me... i'm not too mad because i bought this on deep sale for less than 4$ but still, seriously GOG should not sell this and pull this from store. i'm not even asking for a refund it's just for the sake of principle and so other people don't get disappointed like me in the future. because by the looks of other reviews i'm not the only one that cannot run it at all.

Terrible PC port, having to use multiple 3rd party apps to get it even remotely playable. Absolutely terrible mechanics, pods crashing on thin air (verified by viewers), cheating AI, impossible to play catchup if you fall all the way behind. This game should not be as popular as it is with how terrible it controls, with an xbox controller, N64 controller, and keyboard. The key mappings are asinine (who maps anything to caps lock?), and if you want to map the menu key or map key, you have to use a 3rd party app like Joy2Key. The game was $10 when I purchased it, and honestly, that money probably would've been better spent giving it to a meth addict to get more. Avoid this game. Period.

It is much better than any Need for Speed or any other racing game! Many many years later it is still an amazing game!

This is the last and only game from my childhood which I wasn't able to play on modern hardware. Even virtual machine didn't help. I'm really glad the game is now reworked to be compatibile with Win7/8/10. It's as amazing as I remember it from many years ago. Not always so obvious. Runs great on laptop with Windows 7 and Mobile Radeon GPU.
