♥ original SimCity? You will ♥ SCP.
My very first city builder was the original SimCity. It ran under early MS DOS, was black and white and low resolution by today's standards. I had never played a game like it. I used to leave it running, while I went to work, to see what would happen by the time I got home. I even used to print out huge versions of the city map, on a dot matrix printer, to tape together and hang up. I loved it. Since then, there have been many city builders and newer versions of SimCity. None of them really excited me in the same way as that original SimCity. Smart City Plan does that. That's why I gave it 5 stars. It isn't just a copy though. Features - Easy to get going and start a city. - Common sense visual placing of zones, streets and other elements. - Easy to see or find out what is going on with your city. - Information, so you know about what is needed, is very helpful without being overwhelming. - Useful overlays, that show the status of various elements, are easy to use and access. Aesthetics - Graphics are very pleasing and varied. They are a good combination of detailed and stylized to give the impression of what it is. That way, you can easily see what is going on in different parts of the city. - The screen is well laid out. The menu, or info, you need is visible without overly obscuring the screen. No annoying menus that you constantly have to open or that popup. - Instead of focusing on photo realism, SCP animation indicates what is going on. For instance, cars do not show every car on the street. They merely represent the amount that there are or where there is congestion. - You can adjust the size of the UI to be easier to read take up less of the screen. - You can name each of the buildings. That name shows up on the map. A bit of personalization. - Things grow or build or develop over time. They don't just instantly happen. TLDR: Loved the original SC? You will love SCP. Not dull. Give it a chance.
